for this;
seemingly only on cold boot.
anyone had this? yeah just me, thought so 8)
I have never installed plymouth on any of my systems.
a systemd/debian weirdness?
where might i start looking for such a hook?
I've gone over the files in /etc/systemd/system...
going to grep the /etc/ dir for plymouth occurences.

Look in /etc/init.d. On the live honey, there are still some plymouth scripts in there, and some hooks in .depend.start and .depend.stop. Try "sudo apt-get purge plymouth" -- that removed it for me, even though plymouth is not installed.

i'll check init.d if it comes back.

Re: heres a weird thing, honey drops out of boot...{solved}
Partly weird - in the transition from sysvinit to systemd and via the live-boot scripts there are traces of plymouth pulled in, because live-config-upstart would usually provide it but breaks live-config-systemd and/or live-config-sysvinit. Nothing to worry about.
