replacing libraster 6 libraries in wheezy to V.7

replacing libraster 6 libraries in wheezy to V.7

Unread post by wuxmedia » Mon Nov 25, 2013 2:23 pm

is it possible?
I've run into this bug;
https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/679
which suggests using a newer lib.
i'm in a little over my head.
but i would need to recompile the program using said updated library?

I did try using rtorrent with rutorrent - but that did my head in too.
I guess this isn't really a support question - more of a bork log 8)

ok I've compiled openssl
I guess an actual question is will the newer libs be picked up by the the program that needs them, or will I have to replace the libs manually?

They are referring to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=717933 debian bug, which claims the problem is solved in jessie/sid since Nov 13.
Check the versions you have installed for qbittorent and libtorrent-rasterbar7.
Seems the problem was with that last library, not openssl.

thanks xaos !
I installed wheezy because it's stable! Should've stuck with sid!
yeah I'm sort of tracking down things, now compiling libtorrent.
This reminds me of the old text adventure games,
-> Go north.
# You can't
-> Go south.
#The way south is blocked by a huge door.
-> Open door
# The door is locked.
-> Examine door
# The door appears to be Elvish
-> Go west
...
End up re-compiling entire system

etc etc.

Well, yes. It can become quite a puzzle to find out why a program crashes.
It is not because it crashes in openssl that openssl is the culprit. Using libraries is the only way to go, but it can complicate things further.

My guess is you don't have to recompile anything.
Just make sure you have dist-upgraded to the latest version and things should work..

In that case you *should* re-open that Debian bug report.

oops got ahead of myself.
I didn't read the other fix for the qbittorrent server.
although i'm compiling qbit again, so see how that goes, it's been fun anyway.

WOW, seems to work!!! give it a few mins...

So I found the source of library 7 on github d/led it.
Then compiled it, installed it and re-ran the server.
seems ok after 1/2 an hour
