You should release a BBQ called LinuxBBQ Mullet. It works the same as any other BBQ, but the only difference is that the background is a mullet and every file or texture pack or anything. It just has something to do with a mullet. I am talking about mullets everywhere.

LinuxBBQ Mullet is actually a pretty good name. isn't there a WM called Mutter? :)

Yes, there is, and Gala is based on it IIRC, so we're back on topic. :D

Elementary might die a slow death... No activity on the forums to speak of.
I've always said, when you choose a distro, you choose a repository, _and_ a forum.

^ Could be. The problem I see is especially that it is based on the last Ubuntu LTS and the new will already come out this April. What are they going to do? The next Elementary release will come out in a year or two and will be already outdated. Why do they not just change to a Debian base. :)

Edit: Sure, the fan boys could say, the LTS is supported till..., I forgot.

My guess is because it's not as "easy and popular" as Ubuntu, no PPAs, yadda yadda. But even Debian release will come sooner than a new eOS release.

Now looking back, I am ashamed I even had it on my laptop. Just put another i3 set up on there and brought it to school. Man that baby was quick at everything. Elementary should do something about it, I feel distros like ubuntu and elementary are trying to make linux feel like windows, which "essencially" is good for starting (I guess), but it was my opinion that learning linux taught you how to actually use a computer.

^ There's no shame in trying things out. Fortunately, most of these "fluff" distros come on a live CD/DVD, so you can go see how the other half computes, and say "Shit, where's the fun in that?" Oh yes, they look so pretty on the outside, and they seem to work very well at first, but then the ugliness starts to show through, and the facade breaks down: the little annoyances and hobbled functionality quickly drive you nuts. No thanks. Time to grow a beard, compute like the gods, break shit, and learn to fix it.

But you can add PPAs to eOS, it is Ubuntu based and I think that is what the majority of its users do -> Install new shiny OS. Damn already outdated. -> Fill it with PPAs to have the newest kernel and app xyz.

^ No, I think he is saying the reason eOS doesn't change to a Debian base is because no PPAs, and such Ubuntu-esque niceties.

^ Yup, but I agree with "Install new shiny OS. Damn already outdated. -> Fill it with PPAs to have the newest kernel and app xyz", because that's what I used to do xD

@eos: They might have their own upgrade path, optionally. I mean, if they have update-manager (sp?) included, they can give instructions like "change (what was it?) precise to saucy" and "luna to venus" or so. The fuck knows, maybe they even make an own repo mirror.

@ubuntu: a damned good base system.

Which one of the BBQ releases is based off of ubuntu? I need a nice base to run steam (that isn't ubuntu itself) :)
