New toys

Unread post by bones » Thu Feb 27, 2014 8:45 pm

Got any new toys to share? Show off your Shiny New Shit here!

This isn't mine, personally, but for here at work: Synology NAS (Linux based!) with a 3TB drive (there's two drive bays, can add more later).

Aw, crikey, I can't edit the title! Can someone change it to "New toys," rather than "News toys?" Donkeyshins! ;)

Soo, I have been looking at those wd red nas drives...
Would they work as usual in a regular desktop, or are they "different"?

Good question, but I don't know. Worth some research.

Cool! I keep finding the red drives in good sizes, for a reasonable price.
Thanks for the info

I got a new printer, a Brother all-in-1 inkjet. It is wireless, so we don't always have to swap the cable. And we can even print from our iPads and iPhones.

I did! I even partitioned my desktop how you were suggesting! I have a lot of room for other WM's and distros :)

just never share the /home folder, and everything's gonna be all right. (it is better to mount manually if needed, but if /documents or /music is anyway on a separate partition, nothing bad happens). I strongly advise *against* shared /home folders in which .config files are sitting *if* the installed OS's track different branches. No problem if all OS's track for example sid.
