I need a hostname for my server

Any suggestions?

Something not too long to type. handy if it made sense with subdomains something.servername.com.
Otherwise I'll probably just call it after a place in Lord of the rings or something. 8}

Once it's done I will certainly be offering user slots on it 8) If anyone has any need for it.
Might even use a Hypervisor and get some VM's on it, which would be more fun.

any other suggestions for a server?

heh, thanks, I do quite like all those.

This is primarily for internal network reference, I have yet to decide on a web facing domain to alias it to.
Probably wuxmedia.com as I already own that.

Well, I usually give female names, even to my media server. Lately I went with "oldboy" for my old Acer and the obvious "server" for the server here. I know, quite boring. :)

all my external harddrive partitions are named after Mayan gods... so uhm, yeah, go with whatever tickles your assho... fancy.

Is nothing sacred? 8/ I made a cool web site, Rhow says 'nice metro interface', dkeg says 'contoso' which turns out Microsoft has had that too.
Disgraceful.

oh well, out with the 'Complete Tolkien Companion' for some obscure place names.
Just realised I'm going to have to read the lot again.
(yes, I seem to be slightly obsessed - but the guy was an amazing author/linguist...)

"Gondolin" it is then, perhaps not the most auspicious of names, as the city fortress was overcome in the end.
it was between the Hornberg, Archet and Gondolin.
So it's installed in the racks! Got the weekend to break it 8)
