After a cold and boring match the USA and Germany are qualified for the next round.

^ Oh yeah, how boring, I should had left the house earlier because the streets were crowded. Though I am sorry for Ghana, the damn Portuguese won the last match, what was that about?

I do not know who thinks Capello is a good coach, I think he sucks, that is why Russia is out and England in the last Euro cup, what a boring football style.

we need more tiki-taka.

I noticed that European football has become more static, kind of going back to Kick & Rush (which does work against very offensive tactics, but not if the opponent plays with 9 players in their own half). Maybe the time to play a World Cup is not beneficial for European teams, and I think Qatar 2022 will show if it makes a difference to play in the winter break (which countries like England generally ignore in their national championship).

I also think that the other teams were really prepared and worked hard to play in the world cup, they have no big football leagues and maybe invested more time into it.

i wonder if Qatar will even happen. FIFA scandals and the fact that it is so hot there that people just drop dead from the heat... not really a place to do football. then again, what do i know. we'll see. Netherlands playing Sunday again, will be watching that.

Qatar 2022 will most probably played in winter, at least that is what I heard as last update. But you are right, this will be a world cup that has a lot of rotten meat smell.

man, the Mexicans started that match strong, really impressed by their ball-skills (wink wink, nudge nudge), but the Netherlands were able to keep them at bay. the refereree didnt see the penalty for the Netherlands in the first half, then did give it in the second half (but it was a schwalbe). good match, fun to watch. I hope the Netherlands will get through and play Germany in the finals :)

I was really disappointed that Mexico lost and man, my aversion towards Robben is bigger than ever. :)

Hope not since it would mean Germany would beat Nigeria (Nigeria will beat the French - you haerd it here first) and there would be no African team in the semis.

@ivo: well, seeing how it shouldve been a penalty way before (twice even, no way Moreno breaks his leg in a tackle on the ball), i think it is quite a fair decision of the ref to do it like this. i believe near the end of the match he started realizing exactly how dirty the Mexicans play, hence the yellow cards that were finally given. it was a pretty even match most of the time, and i have a renewed respect for the Mexican team, but in the end: byebye donkeyfuckers :D

Only part of the world cup I saw was on Tuesday due to a friend having it on, Belgium Vs USA. All I noticed is that USA's offense played terribly and started giving up. Only person who did well was the USA goalie with about 20 blocked goals. Pretty impressive in my opinion. I am not much of a watcher of sports though, I can play them, but watching them is quite boring to me :D

I am going to see my first game live tonight of this world cup. Germany vs France at 1:00 AM here.
At the risk of getting banned by the baconator I admit I'll be supporting France. France was a great country and then DeGaulle quit and everything went slowly downhill. Now everything pisses me off about it, or almost. When the country comes back to normal, I can say I always supported it despite all the crap, arrogant fucks, terrible politics and dysfunctional people.
Also I like Valbuena for being so short, he looks like a kid from the distance. I hope it's going to be a good game, the opponent is a nice one so...Allez la France!
