What is your favourite text editor?

Sublime Text 3. I am not a hardline free software advocate, so I don't mind proprietary software (with the exception of cryptographic software). I never really got into vim or emacs.

How long have you been using Linux?

I've been using Linux for about 4 years.

What is the worst thing you've ever done to a Linux system?

I screwed up Grub and apt before. Quite badly.

Also, when I first started out with Linux, I wasted about 4 CDs trying to get Ubuntu onto it.

Window manager/desktop environment?

i3wm as of now. I might get into other tiling window managers.

What distros have you used?

Ubuntu 10.04 -> Linux Mint 11-13 -> Debian (for a very short amount of time) -> Ubuntu 12.04 -> Fedora 19 -> ...

Along the way I tried out Damn Small Linux, Elementary OS and SubLinux, but I didn't install those as my main operating system.

===

I'm a high school student who enjoys programming as a hobby (python, etc.) as well as tinkering with Linux systems. When it comes to politics, I'm a centrist, slightly leaning towards liberal. While I like FOSS software, I accept proprietary software as well (with the exception of cryptographic software, as mentioned above).

Thanks to everyone for inviting me to join this community, and I look forward to contributing and participating to this community. :)

Thanks,
wei2912 (Wei En)

Hi Wei En, happy to have you around the grill. :) Sublime Text is also my religion.

Welcome to the grill, wei. Sublime Text is a cool text editor, for sure. Grab a slab and throw it on the grill!

Thanks for the warm (hot?) response! I'm quite surprised at the number of posts; never got anything like that in other forums.

@ivo: :)

@wei: you know, that name means 'meadow' in Dutch. quite nice, grassy, you know the deal. sheep and stuff.
anyway, it might be the order in which i read the forums, but before coming across your intro-thread i noticed a ton of activity in a whole bunch of other threads as well - seems you are the type of BBQ guest that just grabs a beer and starts looking for somewhere to help out a bit. very nice, those types of people are always much appreciated at any party. welcome!
