Introduction

Unread post by fbt » Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:05 am

As the forum seems to be the center of the community, I guess I'll introduce myself here:

I'm Jack L. Frost, a system administrator from Moscow, Russia.
Took an interest in Linux in 2006; didn't even know that there are other useable systems aside from Mac OS X and Windows at the time.
Burned my way through a lot of distros since then, including Slackware (SLAX, a minimal LiveCD based on Slackware was the first distro I've ever used), Fedora Core, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Alt, Debian, Zenwalk and some others.
Currently I mainly use heavily modified Arch installs (desktops) and mainline Debian (servers).

Found the forums through pidsley (he mentioned the IRC channel describing it as “a bunch of distro-agnostic freaks” and that got my attention).

My blog and GitHub.

I won't be active on the forum, I don't think.
I'm very talkative and prefer realtime conversations to forums and such.

I'm also not a nice guy. Just FYI.

Hello fbt, thank you for your intro and welcome to the grill.

We are all not so super-nice, at least most of us can be real assholes :)

Anyway, thanks for leaving a message, you have already done more than most of the lurkers who register and then never write.

Edit: just seen your blog and github -- watchman looks nice!

Welcome fbt -- for those who don't know from IRC, fbt is the creator of "watchman" and "spark."

And as bacon says, being an asshole here is not a problem...

Oh yes, (AKA openfbtd) I see you've been semi-lurking on the IRC, you sounded sysadminy - joining in my moan, about whatever email problem i was ranting about at the time.

Welcome.

Welcome to the grill, fbt! (I am ratcheer on the IRC channel).

What a coincidence - I got a new follower from Moscow on Google+, yesterday, too.

welcome to the BBQ Mr Frost, it is always nice to have something cold when you are near a meat-scorching flame. whether you talk is up to you, whether you are an asshole is up to us, but like Mr Machineba Con said, making an intro-thread is more than some have done.
