^ Wow, rho. We have an wonderfully written wiki article for everything :D I really wish that philosophy was as prevalent in the GNU/Linux community as it was 10+ years ago. (c.f. The Cathedral and the Bazaar and The New Hacker's Dictionary) That is one of the many things that I have appreciated about the bbq: a sense of humble community rather than a communist oligarchy or dictatorship.
