A 1-year long BBQ

Unread post by GekkoP » Thu Sep 04, 2014 8:40 am

I am definitely no good with calendars, so yesterday I forgot it was exactly one year of me being a part of the grill.
I remember coming here with my CrunchBang and all my noobness. It took me some time to get rid of it and enjoy the fun of trying different setups and always learning new things. Still a noob, but hey, a noob with new tricks in his bag.
Looking back at my Ubuntu/Mint/Fedora/CrunchBang days it really amazes me how much more comfortable I am now with Linux. All these setups I have around really helped me a lot along the way of understanding more and more about computing. And yes, I am 100% sure it is because of the BBQ that I got where I am now.
I keep thanking you guys for the help and the spirit the lies beneath the surface of this great place. This topic is nothing more than me thanking you once again.

Keep the grill going, you crazy guys.

You know I can only totally support this sentiment.

I feel very similar to you Gekko.
Although I've been here a bit longer, I've needed more help 8)

Yes, nice to have you in the team Manu!

Actually the BBQ turned two years IIRC. :) So you are in for the half of the time.

^ Yes, there is no official birthday but the linuxbbq.org domain was registered on September 16, so let's regard it as the birthday.

Cheers

I'm hit or miss when it comes to staying on the forum, but it's been a long time, (or so it seems) and I love everybody here. It's such a good group of guys, and I've picked up and learned loads of stuff from all of you. I'm glad long ago, in a galaxy far far away we broke away from that mother ship and created a group of miscreants. Even if I vanish for a month or two, I'm not gone. I know I've not been around a lot recently, life has been ...interesting.

Gekkop: I never would have really figured you for a noob. You're the type to RTFM and you seem to fit in well. :)

just as everything is bloat, so everybody is noobish.

as for rose, mr Simon, i ditched that shit some time ago because it brought me nausea and headaches. pure rum and vodka (no ice) for me now, much healthier.

Has it only been a year? I guess that's about right. Either way, glad that you came aboard Manu.
