Oh boy. This is one of the few things that really embitters me. I am surrounded with rabid Apple fans. It tossed up this Daily Dot article on Facebook and the push back was amazing. I got wonderful texts, including "I hate the openness of Androids and I hate the functionality of them." Seriously.

That's it, that's exactly it.

Aaaahhh, do you remember the sounds of dial-up...?

http://goughlui.com/legacy/soundofmodems/index.htm

My favorite is V.34(bis) - 14400bps to 33600bps. Sounds like someone says "die" in the middle.

Interesting experiment! This fella setup a few servers with no fail2bab and such, left the root password as "password", and then observed what happened (through sysdig.) https://sysdig.com/blog/fishing-for-hackers/

It is crazy. We deal with a compromise of some sort every two weeks or so.
Of course they are better protected than his...

^ I finally ditched WordPress. If I was serious about blogging I would probably pick up something like Jekyll.

^ Been using Wordpress for years for all my sites (school, personal IT blog and film criticism one), mainly because of org2blog. Can't complain so far.

^ Me too, and like me I'm sure you are fastidious about keeping it up to date (recent versions make it so much easier/automatic thank goodness)
Probably don't have any fancy sliders with exploits either :)

Sort of funny:
https://blog.sucuri.net/2016/04/sucuri-redesigned.html
(check the main site - mega bloater!)
and in a related tweet (bit out of date) - why web-design is dead, I think nuggets information will simply be written in html, then your own styling will be used to display it, in whatever browser/app one wishes.
Sort of like RSS

^ I got tired of it because I was looking for something more lightweight - I'm not much of a blogger. More like posting links to helpful resources :D
