I really wondered what he was going to do with his dingleberry in that last clip.

To me the article does not make sense. Am I the only dumb here?
Anyway I never compare RAM usage of my Linux boxes to Windows boxes because there are none.
Unity or Gnome Shell still will suck your memory regardless how good or bad it cashes the rest in comparison to a lighter desktop. That is my reference. Once the cache is full, good luck. :)

nearly gave it a good read, until:
Currently running Centos 6.7. Yes – Centos 7 is out there – but it sucks. It runs Gnome 3 which is a huge step backwards from Gnome 2.
maybe, but.. err MATE or anything?

So it seems he tried Mate, he claims so. Not really IMO.

I could not care less about whether people use Linux, Mac or other shit. I love what works for me and you should, too but this is bullshit because you do not know what you are talking about and please correct your grammar or at least do like many of us, use the damn spellchecker.
The Mate desktop was more flexible but still wasn’t as easy as Gnome 2 on my Centos 6 install. It created tiny icons any couldn’t adjust the size. It didn’t have as many widgets to put in the task bar as Gnome 2 did. And I was looking for more freedom – not less. And compared to Redhat KDE 2 of 15 years ago it had nothing!
Here it stops for me.

But then I continued...

Look at this sentence.
you would think that when Linus complains people would listed. But they don’t.
This is proper English. Fuck me then with my poor English.

Not worth commenting there but he has a point when I overlook his own trolling. :)

The KDE was the shortest test. KDE used to be my favorite desktop. I spen an hour just rying to change the wallpaper and gave up.

What an idiot. I like this comment:
It’s the classic bait and switch. Headline: “Here is why Linux sucks” and the article is “Here is why the few Linux desktops I tried suck”
Remember the blog about "why tiling window managers suck"? Same thing. I don't like it, so it sucks.

I guess I don't "get" blogs. They all seem like attention-seeking rants to me.

And I don't understand why Linux has to "compete" with anything. If you like Windows or OS/X better, use that and STFU. If you like Openbox more than Spectrwm, use Openbox and STFU. If you don't like systemd, just plain STFU.

RE: GRUB

Okay, I'll be completely honest here; my experience level is probably close to the 20yr mark as well - maybe not Linux per se, but UNIX-like operating systems in general - and yet, to this day, I still struggle to remember if it's grub-update or update-grub. Nothing to do with the article. Just wanted to make a confession. >_<

Actually, thanks to them aliases, I can't even remember half the basic shell utility commands today anymore. I'd probably die if I forgot to import my shell.rc files one day.

^ I'll admit to that too :)
I think because it's "install-grub /dev/sda" then its "grub-update"...hmm or is it?

Pidsley is right about the attention seeking with some blogs, the ones which are like that anyway. They gotta get that traffic baby, sorry for posting it really so you all had to read it.

I feel the same when I type some alias commands on the machines of my better half and they do not work.

IIRC the "update-grub" is a Debian/Ubuntu-only command. On a real Linux system (lol) you have to go through a few steps more, with grub-mkconfig, os-prober and stuff...
