not 100% sure, but 'Poettering' sure sounds more German than English to me. unless of course his parents are originally from Germany or something and moved to England or whatever. it was a guess :)

if not for Mr Poettering's interjections in that video, i would've wasted an hour of my time listening to some wannabe nerdy kid bitching about stuff that doesn't work as he wants it to work. instead, i now have more knowledge about a bunch of applications that were formerly quite mystifying to me, such as consolekit, plus i had a good laugh. so i can only thank Mr Poettering for not keeping his mouth shut and talking about his 'bullshit' apps.
'have you filed a bug-report?' - BAM!

Well, we could always just stop wondering where he's from, and look him up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennart_Poettering

I do think some Germans have been known to speak excellent English (far more than Brits or Americans have been known to speak excellent German).

This systemd battle is what makes normal computer users think we are all geeks with no life. It's a freaking init system. Do you even know what it does? Oh sorry, I forgot, "it tries to do too much" -- excuse me.

"Guatemalan" doesn't seem to be a language -- do you mean Spanish, or Mayan? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guatemala#Language

Since "As a first and second language, Spanish is spoken by 93% of the population" of Guatemala, I'll asume Spanish. Many Spanish-speaking people are also known to speak excellent English.

He clearly sounds Northern German to me, I mean I heard some interviews with him in German and he speaks without a dialect (if ever, I would classify it as a very very mild form of Hamburg Mandarin). But apart from that, I don't really understand the hate against his work. "Shut up and show me the code" - he is right about saying that nobody is forced to use his software, and seriously: I would be the happiest man alive if I had only 10% of the (programming) skills of L. Poettering.

I like this "fun" website, always Bookmarked ;)
There are quite a few pages, each with it's own topic : Small ACSII pics , Large ACSII pics, Smileys
(at least a hundred, no joke) etc.. and Internet abbreviations aka, the longest I've ever seen , here goes: ROFLMAOWTIME = Rolling On Floor Laughing My Ass Off With Tears In My Eyes

This helps me keep up with the young ones ;)
