Happy Happy 2015 ...

Unread post by Sector11 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 6:29 pm

Hi everyone ... Happy 2015 ...
- may your coffee pots never empty,
- may your pipe tobacco always be fresh, and
- may your beef be done just how you like it.

Been a while since I've been here. Too long really. So I thought come over have a coffee and chit chat for a spell.

After a 'quick' look around:
- make a PC related NY's Resolution - Hey, I have until mid Feb for the Chinese New Year. :D
- stay away - miles possibly - from a couple of harems here - Joe and macinebacon - good luck.

A little update - thought I'd 'test' and "rm -rf" command - you know the one you should never never use... I really wanted to clean' my HDD and what better excuse to test something that people say "never do this it will clean your HDD"

And boy did it - in a matter of seconds, #! Stable, #! Animal and a BBQ flavour that I was having problems with (/media/5/LBBQ/linuxbbq-spring-amd64-20140203.iso). Of course me having problems with a BBQ flavor is normal - but I keep trying.

Remember one of the first BBQ "#! facsimile" flavour ... that's the only BBQ flavour I actually managed to get running, and I made it go CRUNCH BURN BANG SIZZLE somehow ... :D

But I Regress: So I have a bunch of free partitions to play with - 5 with the last one big enough to be split into more.
Ahhhhhhhhh I have my PC New Years Resolution ... going to post that and check out the latest roasts.

Hello and welcome back!

Hope that all wishes will come true, especially the coffee and pipe tobacco one (I've only read bad things about beef, so I switched to pork - also because of religious reasons).

By all means, split the big partition into a few small ones and go distro-shopping ;) It's always a good idea to have a few 10GB slices in an extended partition somewhere. Get yourself the 'Hot Dog' flavor, and you can PM me if you get stuck (and if you don't want to lose face in front of the communities) ;))

Show them Bangers how to make it crunchy! Happy new year and welcome back!

HI Guys ...

@ MB - Switched to ham hocks my butt, you still sneaking beef in there. ;)
No need to split that final partition just yet, I have 2 x 20GB and 2 x 25GB partitions to go through first
Hey, I said I'm going to try and do this in 5 questions or less - PM's would be cheating ... gotta learn .. crash and burn ... put out the flames and rebuild. I can pop in #! in my sleep, Mint and a few others as well ... LBBQ will not defeat me ... this time ... 0¿0

@ dkeg - thanks ... I have to start taking more active participation over here ... get a lean beef fix ...

Hi Sector 11, nice to see you around these parts. If you want to take a walk on the big upgrade side of the BBQ you could try out the fantastic, fabulous, friggin, fuqqin, philantrophic "Romantic Rapist" release from last summer. The coolest Openbox Xprience since a loooong time ago. I stll love it after all these months :D Still available at Sourceforge, happy BBQing! :)

Hi vic ... Yea, I was away too long.

last summer ... yea that would have a big upgrade. Mind you might be fun to see.

HEADS UP Everyone

Downloaded HotDog just before bed last night ... live runs nice although it hates my latam keyboard and changed the "us" layout to "latam" did nothing (in the live mode). to hot and humid here to concentrate on anything today ... with probably install tomorrow when they say it will cool off in the rain.

T: 38.5° and ↑ - H: 79% - today is a: I'm gonna veg day!

hahaha, gelukkig nieuwjaar S11 :)

my plan for the new year is to point out all the ways people are being racist, without them actually being racist, just to fuck with their minds.

Ahhh I see ... ya can't fuck with something that ain't there! :6

So if Daniil Trifonov is a pianist would that make Mario Andretti a racist?

38 degrees in ARG, that's unfair :D

latam keyboard for X:

edit ~/.xinitrc and change the 'setxkbmap us &' to what you need, save and exit, log out and back again.

Question 1 of 5 used up. ;)

No, no, no ... I asked no question. I read the README that popped up and did:

Code: Select all

nano .xinitrc
.. the ~ didn't work so I eliminated the ~/ and that worked.

I edited 'us' to 'latam' and saved in the live session but it didn't catch ... have to install it to the HDD today when I get back.

my current (#!): /etc/default/keyboard - no ~/.xinitrc here.

Code: Select all

# KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

# Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

XKBMODEL="microsoftpro"
XKBLAYOUT="latam"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS=""

BACKSPACE="guess"[/quote]
Back to 5Q's  :D

Ok, try this in a terminal, and if it works, add it with ampersand to .xinitrc

setxkbmap "latam(basic)"

It works here ... ñÑ

To find all layout definitions, use

Code: Select all

grep latam /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/*
where latam is the language.
