Babylon Berlin
Catching up with this one, and so far it's been a good one. It reminds me of Black Book here and there, though of course Verhoeven is a different beast altogether.

^ Cool. The newest season is out now. Watched two episodes but sometimes they put really senseless stuff into the script, I guess that is very German.

^ Yes, it goes random sometimes but it hasn't lost its focus at the moment. Also, I love the effort to care about sets, lights, and colours.

That is actually the best part of the whole show. Fun fact, the journalist, the Austrian actor Karl Markovics, I met him at a our local film festival and served him at a bar. Nobody of my colleagues recognized him.
Yesterday I watched two more episodes and it is exciting though some side plots are "confusing" again, at least to me. Sometimes it tries hard to be more mysterious or dark then it should or can. The director and screen writer itself is also a regular visitor of that film festival. I will miss it now that we moved.

We watched "The English" on Iplayer. Thought it was very good. It was a kinda classic western with some more modern ideas over 6 episodes.
Loverly scenery and acting we thought was top notch.

Babylon Berlin still fun, but:
- I will go with Deutschland next
- I want to study German now

Nope. Did not really invite me. Although I think the story sounds quite interesting but it is Netflix, so...

"True Detective" S3, great drama thriller from 2019 so not new. Actually it was better than what I expected in the first place. Some very emotional scenes with great acting.

The good thing is that there is a S4 coming with Jodie Foster and Kali Reis playing the leading detectives.

"Dark Winds" is an ok and enjoyable thriller drama. "Follows Leaphorn and Chee, two Navajo police officers in the 1970s Southwest that are forced to challenge their own spiritual beliefs when they search for clues in a double murder case."

Also enjoyable is the new 2nd season of "Perry Mason", if you like LA noir that is.

Finished S3 of "Dead To Me", and this was also the last. Gave me many laughs this time around too with a bit of a cheesy ending (as was expected) and with a small twist. :)

"Succession" S1. It was time to check this much praised series out. After first episode I was in doubt, seemed like the actors were so pumped with adrenaline or something that it bordered bad acting. Just too much of everything, like they were trying too hard to convince me.

It is quite normal though that it takes a couple of episodes before things and characters have adjusted to itself. So now I am happy that I continued to watch it, it got remarkably better already in the second episode, and things improves during the whole season. It is filmed in a documentary style so that is also probably one of the reasons it took a couple of episodes to adjust to it.

So if you are into following a dysfunctional family drama, power struggle in a media company, and rich people being generally mean to each other this might actually be something to watch.

To my surprise it has given me many laughs too, there are some really hilarious moments to enjoy. And there are also some scenes with really really great acting to appreciate.

"Sucession" S2. The struggle for power and control continues. I love it, and there are some incredible moments here. Have started on S3.

The Virtues
A mini-series (4 episodes), gut-punching, with a great Stephen Graham.

"Succession" S3 finished. I am glued to this. Great power drama, I nearly forget to breathe sometimes when I watch it. Very theatrical, but that is probably the very cause why I like it so much.

That was also a great one for me. I streamed this on a rare occasion on one of Germany's official broadcasting channels' library.
