The Outsider
Well, well, Richard Price is behind this mini-series and after two episodes in I am already liking it a lot. I've never read the King's novel behind it, and I don't really intend to.* If the episodes keep going like the first two, though, I'll be a happy grown-up.

* Don't get me wrong: King'll always have a special place in my heart, because as a kid his books (It and Different Seasons in particular) meant quite a lot to me. While I have appreciated 'Salem's Lot in recent years I hardly feel compelled to catch up with him.

^ Binge-watched it and I confirm my first thoughts: a great series.

4 episodes in and I think this is perfect for me after a long day of work and books, especially if dinner is late in the evening and I just need one hour to chill.

Right in the middle of season 2, I can just say this is really well written and enjoyable. So many themes that may seem trivial are dealt with the right balance of humour and seriousness. Even when you can predict how some subplots are going to develop it's still a pleasure.

First two episodes of season 4 are by far the worst of the entire show so far. I have the feeling the brilliant chemistry is now lost, maybe because some characters are gone and we are introduced to new ones, or maybe it's because behind the camera the crew has changed a bit and it shows blatantly. I'll keep up just to get to the end of it since this is the last season, but I do hope they are able to bring back everything that made the first 3 seasons so good.

^ The rest of the season was as nice as the first three, so all good in the end. Recommended.

Poker Face
First episode was good enough to convince me to stick around.

^ This is really nice. Simple, even basic in its development, but good entertainment.

Lupin
I started this to challenge my still feeble knowledge of the French language, but it's good to understand most of what they say. Beside that, so far it is as entertaining as Poker Face, so thumbs up from me.

A Murder at the End of the World
I started this much discussed and praised series last night. So far I am not that impressed, I would just call it good entertainment and that's it, but since it's just a small number of episodes I will stick around to check how it turns out.

Me and my better half are enjoying some Fringe for entertainment purposes. It reminds me of The X-Files but more modern.

OK, at the Emacs VS Vi reference I was admittedly happy, although according to this series since I use Emacs I must be a clever hacker and even a plausible crime suspect. Neat.

^Will maybe try it out sometime. Same people behind it that did "The OA", which I enjoyed.

^ To be honest, I was disappointed at the end. It felt rushed and out of ideas, but also way too much on the safe side (i.e. let's put this and that to please everyone otherwise we risk become unpopular).

"The Sinner" S4. We were disappointed with S3, we found it a bit tedious and too much of focus on the dark past of the main character "Harry Ambrose" played by Bill Pullman. Ok, we are old school when it comes to detective dramas and prefer it the who did it way.

But here in S4 things are more to our taste. A good detective story in a small community, great filming and acting. Our hero is still a very troubled man but it does not take the focus away from the story that is being told.
