If you're into Docker, here we go: https://github.com/gliderlabs/docker-alpine
Re: Distros of interest
^ Bloody hell, 5 MB o.O This is Pidsley territory. I have always liked Alpine :)

Re: Distros of interest
^^ yup, in one of their other interesting tutorial i found by random browsing earlier this year, they managed to squeeze the whole jdk to just a few dozen MB in docker image. Insane!
EDIT: scratch that, the actual jdk article in question was from atlassian dev-groups https://developer.atlassian.com/blog/20 ... ontainers/

Re: Distros of interest
AntiX MX-15 is available. Perhaps not the distro with lot's of CLI-goodies but for a XFCE distro I consider it as one of the better ones.

Re: Distros of interest
You could be right it had a very LXDE type menu as well as the flubox one MB. I switched to the Salix version I'm going through a real Slackware stage.:)
P.S. The ISO was labelled as a fluxbox release.

It looks to me that it's fluxbox with fbpanel.

Oh yesh, fbpanel, the grandma of lxpanel -- to me they are all the same

Re: Distros of interest
^ was about time that they add non-free contrib to the sources. No more 32 bit at siduction? One more reason to flip burgers here.

Re: Distros of interest
there's always VSIDO. they're a bit like Fluxbox Crunchbang in Sid, with some experimental and Siduction programs pinned in apt.
if you're looking for a lightweight Debian Testing XFCE installer, i'd vote for Kali minimal, as one of the lightest. the desktop and thunar are probably the only graphical applications. not even a text editor beyond nano, last time i checked. you just change the repos to Testing, and update.
a more minimal approach is Debian Dog. it's set up to install on a partition or a USB drive. it's a minimal Debian (they have minimal JWM and Openbox/XFCE panel versions), and the GRUB menu allows you to choose systemd or sysvinit. it was developed by one of the puppy linux guys, but it's not puppy.

Re: Distros of interest
^ Sweet thanks, never checked Debian Dog out, thought it was pure Puppy (if that makes sense). Will download tonight.

Re: Distros of interest
^^ Thanks, that's a nice catch. Back in the day I used Puppy as a rescue-cd. I'm downloading it, and perhaps this might be a good replacement.
Re: Distros of interest
i warn you guys. if i remember correctly, to install it properly, you have to put it on a usb...and then use the installer to install it properly to another usb. it's a bit convoluted, but it's an extremely lightweight Debian install. the JWM iso is something around 160 mb, with dillo and a couple of applications. check the release notes to be sure.

Sorry, don't see the need to get a grilled burger when I already have a choice of many.

Re: Distros of interest
^ooohhh, shiny. my only concern is that all of that containerization, similar to qubes os, means it will probably only be available for 64 bit systems.
