Hello From NZ

Unread post by darry1966 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 5:09 am

Hi There guys,

Just started using Linux BBQ and I'm impressed with Bork (Very crunchbang) on my old Dell Latitude D620 it runs real sweet.

Come from Puppy Linux and appreciate the simplicity of LinuxBBQ. It is very stable and fast.
My Interests are retro Laptops and Sci-Fi/Cult TV shows and retro Mountain Bikes, anyway just wanted to say Hi and thanks for the great work being done on this distro.

As for what bought me here I wanted something simple and fast and different from other distros, to use on a machine that is very temperamental at best.

The size of these releases and its barebones approach also a plus.

Hello Darry, welcome to the BBQ. Happy to hear you like /real/ minimalism :)

Anyway, I like retro people :) Wanna share your laptop collection? IIRC we have a 'hardware' thread somewhere here.

Welcome Darry, you sound like a nice fella.
Bork is indeed a sweet release, perhaps it was my comment on the release thread that swayed you to the borkside :)
There is another kiwi here somewhere, should you feel the need to discuss...whatever kiwis discuss...
There's a meatspace page too, to show off a retro Mountain bike, what is that anyway, like the one I had as a kid?

I had a crap one from a catalog, a universal. I broke it shortly after riding into a 'woody trap' we had a bike track and this kid on a motorbike used to raga round it, so the guys dug a trench round a blind corner, which I unknowingly tested out, did quite a sweet roll and was unhurt. the bikes forks were straight down after :)
