Really surprised to see this one resurrected. Though I am worried about the 'citrus/dried fruit' addition, it would have sounded so good without it: matured VAs with a pinch of Oriental. Sounds like the chubby brother of London Mixture so far. But dried fruits topping, wtf? I am pretty sure back in the 1920s Dunhill didn't add such shit to their mixtures.

Re: At the tobacconist
They surely did not. It was called English because there was no topping, only pure tobacco at that time.machinebacon wrote:I am pretty sure back in the 1920s Dunhill didn't add such shit to their mixtures.

The pipes look tasty, have a very old school touch. Cheap or not, ugly or not, if it tastes good it is just perfect.
For my birthday from my sister:
Let's see how this Davidoff is. Of course there are two of my faves, Balkan Flake and My Mixture 965. It is that time of the year, English blend time.

Re: At the tobacconist
Wow, Capstan is an excellent choice. I have Davidoff Danish Mixture, it's surely a nice tobacco (as in quality) but the casing is a bit too nutty. Actually I wanted the Scottish Mixture, but it wasn't available, only Danish, so I just bought it. The English Mixture must be better, expect something smooth. Quality-wise this is one of the best tobaccos on the market. tobrev says:
Balkan Flake is of course the winner in this collection, how I love it :)
Sounds like there's everything in it :D Not sure how this is "English", but hey - smoke is smoke!A traditional English middle-cut (a little wider than ribbon) blend of Virginia, Burley and Latakia, with a touch of Périque spice tobacco added to further enhance the bouquet. This is a mild blend rich in tobacco flavors and backed by a touch of spice.
Balkan Flake is of course the winner in this collection, how I love it :)

Re: At the tobacconist
In fall time nothing can beat Balkan Flake, except the wet stuff itself. :)
Already tried the Davidoff. Definitely English to me. It has Latakia and smokes perfectly. The tobacco is indeed of high quality but when you look at the price, not sure. It is just too expensive because it does not deliver something superior to other similar tobaccos. But let me smoke it a bit more before I judge it too much.

Re: At the tobacconist
Uhm, no? not thai. What is that like? do they have a thai-flavor?
All I have used has been Swedish.
Usually the pretty standard "general", but I did try "ettan" which was nice from time to time.
I think it tastes sort of like raisins, and something else, which I have no idea what is.
Look at my horse my horse is amazing.....
