Chef, it really looks as though we have a lot in common. I raced SingleSpeed and rigid for many years in the Mid-Atlantic region; including Eastern and central PA, North Jersey, etc. Did mainly endurance races, like 50 milers or 6 hour races. Some of the central PA ones were more like 75. Did the Michaux series too which is near Gettysburg PA, Seven Springs 24 hour, did that as a duo team, in a tropical storm (3rd!) and the Leesburg VA Baker's Dozen a couple times; solo and team. Anyway, cool man. No pictures of my bike, and its been in some dudes garage for the last couple years. I don't ride anymore, 'retired' in like 2010. You know, it is such a time suck. I got kids and other responsibilities. I traded in the round rubber for running trails. Its a quicker jaunt in the woods than 4 hour training rides and all day races.

Probably just thinking "hey, that guy's having a lot fun, and it didn't cost him a ton of cash... WTF am I doing dressed up in spandex"

Chef Edit: ahem - unless one happens to be racing, or training for a race. Then spandex is ok, sausage and all :)

I hear ya my kids are older now, like the youngest is in his last year at western michigan. I just cherry pick a few races a year if I feel like it, I closed the team down last year. I still run for the same reason, its simple and efficient form of exercise. I have a rail trail a mile away and if I want some serious hills there is a hiking path that runs sort of parallel to the local mtb trail but that is a 20 minutes drive each way depending on traffic.

The weather has sure been nice for all the spring classics. Some years are brutal.

The brutal ones are of course more epic, but yes, not as safe for the riders

What a great finale. So much talent in the last 1K.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen is on right now. Check steephill.tv

On a side note, I have trails (rails to trails) basically all the way to work, albeit ~25 miles each way. Plan is to pick up a new rig, and ride in a couple days a week.
Keep the bike simple, this is the bike I'll probably be picking up. Since racing on a single speed mtb, hard pressed to deal with gears again.

Nice bike Drew.
The weather is already inviting to take the bike but I have to repair mine. The chain broke.
