Hi people !

Unread post by galbi » Fri Mar 27, 2015 10:53 pm

Hi all, I was a bit afraid in posting in this "major league" forum, but here I am...

I'm from Buenos aires, Argentina. Linux user since 2006. Hoped for Debian derivatives, till found Puppy Linux (please don't laugh, Puppy it's not taken as seriously as it deserves), in Puppy´s forums someone mentioned BBQ and waked up my curiosity.

Now I have my new toy, Bork, (many thanks to you all) installed and running.

Have a lot of questions, but asking here would be the easy way, for the moment, I'll try to find the answers for myself and ask here as a last resource.

Unfortunatelly, for language reasons, I miss most of the jokes and forum fun.

Well, I'll be sitting in a corner, listening and learning. Tnx.

Saludos.

Galbi.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have another international member :)
I've not looked at puppy linux, perhaps I should...
If you've been using linux for ten years, you should just about be able to find your own answers, but ask away, the topic might go amazingly offtopic, but we don't mind that much :)

Nice to have you here, Galbi! :D I doubt many BBQers would seriously scoff at Puppy; a great distro. Since 2006? Dang, you have been in this game for way longer than I have! (I was 8 years old when you started using Linux 0_o) It sounds like you will be able to teach some of us a lot ;) I'm sorry you aren't able some of the madness that we call home, but I trust that you will be able to join in on some of the fun!

I appreciate the fact that you search for answers for your questions before you post but feel free to toss up a thread in /usr/share/doc if you get stumped :)

hey Galbi, welcome to the party! how nice of you to follow our wishes by starting off with an intro-thread :)

dont worry too much about that "major league" shit. i dont think we are, really. more like some type of beer-team (as we call football teams of friends here in the Netherlands, because they basically drink beer while kicking a ball around ;) - which is good, because we are less likely to forget to have fun.

make sure to have a look at our Wiki, and perhaps browse around a bit, get a feel for the place, post about some of your musical preferences, make a thread for Argentinian music (if we havent got one already...), whatever. enjoy!

Boca!!! As for my mom´s influence. Boca my whole life, except for 3 or 4 hours, when I was about 6 years old, someone convinced me that I have to be fan of San Lorenzo (you know, Pope Francis is a bad fanatic of San Lorenzo). But at night when i told my mother that now I was fan of S.L. she said: ok, no problem, but you will have to find your food somewhere else... A very strong way to lead me back to Boca. At the age of 6 it's a very convincent argument... :)

But I'm not a big fan of soccer. Here, soccer more than a sport, it's a big, nasty business, specially for maffias. Don't like that.

Saludos.

Yeah, welcome galbi. We have something in common already. My work is an open collaborative space with 'neighborhoods'. The neighborhoods are name after cities around the world (company being global and all). I sit in the Buenos Aires neighborhood.

Anyway, glad to have you, and please, don't take us too seriously. We're just a bunch of dudes who get along and like to hang out. Pretty much what rho says. Grab a brew, and go mingle

Welcome Galbi,
I actually made a puplet (Puppy Linux Distrolet) for single purpose, persistent use as a CD once. Not a bad distro at all. Also, we're 'major league?' When the hell did this happen? Better yet, HOW did this happen? Shouldn't I get an email about important things like this? Wux, what are we paying you for?

We're pretty chill here, except when we're not, and that's mostly just us yelling at each other. :)

Glad to have you. Enjoy the BBQ.
