beer and tea.. - is that bowl had the rim cracked off of it, or is that a sexy glaze effect?

no damage there, the opening is for a spoon. but it is soup not tea :-)

Edit: now I see what you mean. To their excuse, there are like 5000 guests a day (fast food restaurant), so the bowl is worn, yes. On the other hand, their food is fresh, quick, comparably healthy and their restaurant is clean. Never got any problems there, and I am one of their oldest customers (they opened exactly on the other side of my building, and I was their first ever customer back in 2008).

Mostly foreigners love it, especially from Spain and Italy but they enjoy wheat beer in general more than some Germans outside Bavaria. Though there are some "copies" of wheat beer from very big German breweries outside Bavaria and they taste like shit.

@Bacon: Qingdao is not so bad, we can buy it here in Lidl. :)

I tend to roll local/regional with beers.

One of my favorite breweries right now is Ninkasi:

They don't make any bad beers, but my favs are Tricerahops and Believer.

My all-time favorite local brewer is Rogue:

All good also, but fond of American Amber Ale, Double Chocolate Stout, and Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

Just tried my first ever English brew Old Speckled Hen - it was ok but I think I prefer German and possibly Austrian. Found a Countdown which has quite a few German ones.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll enjoy the "research".:)

Austrians: Puntigamer, Ottakringer and of course Goesser. They are all OK, 'Goesser' might be the easiest to get abroad but being probably the worst beer in Austria. The others are good beers but probably not available in NZ.

Germans, you can actually try everything that has 'Pils' or 'Pilsener' in its name, they are usually better than the average supermarket beers. I'm not a fan of Dark and Bock beers, somehow doesn't fit my body chemistry. If you like DAB, you will like 80% of the German Pils offerings :D

Man you're right there Machinebacon I love the german Pilsners especially as I mentioned before Kaltenberg. Noticed quite a few were Pilsners in the Range this Supermarket had German wise. I am pretty sure the 2 Austrian ones above you mention are available so anyway enough to try out and enjoy.;)

P.s. There are the bottle stores too so can check them out too.

Yeah, even the cheapest German beer is better than Spanish piss. :) When I come back to Germany I suddenly can enjoy an Oettinger:

https://www.oettinger-bier.de/biere/oettinger-pils

A Wiki link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oettinger_Beer

And why it is possibly a relatively good beer:
Oettinger uses several ways to keep beer prices low:

Oettinger does not advertise.[2]
Oettinger does not involve any intermediaries; brewery-owned trucks deliver directly to stores.
The brewing process is highly automated and uses few employees to brew vast amounts of beer.

The low price has made this beer brand the most successful one in Germany with an output of 621 million litres in 2011.
Oettinger is like Aldi or Ryan Air. :)

In my opinion, Oettinger is one of the better (say, top 50) beers of Germany. For a 'commercial' brewery it's a very good one, though it has no high's and low's :)

I even think it's the brewery with the highest output in Germany.

ha, Golden Dragon :) - I wonder what kind of bastardized pronunciation English-speaking folks will give to that one. I've been explaining to people how to say Hoegaarden en Leffe properly, goddamn language butchers ;)
