linuxbbq pixel logo

Unread post by rhowaldt » Thu May 14, 2015 12:42 am

i am getting into pixelart (through designing patterns for my GF's bead loom hobby) and decided to make a LinuxBBQ logo in pixels because i feel it would fit better with the aesthetic, such as the website for example. hope you like it. do with it what you want :)
(suggestions for additions/changes/whatever always welcome!)

P.S. i just noticed that when you open that link in Chrome it will give it on a white background. a dark background will do it more justice in this case, but the image is a PNG with transparency so it seems Chrome is boss when it comes to backgrounds. for luck, here's a scrot on darkness.

Hey rhosey, I think it's nice - or it would be, seems the uploaded pic is cut in the middle... Isn't it?

(btw, the background of an application is set via gtk, so with a fitting scheme the background is black)

na not cut, it is just a really small penguin in front of a blazing inferno.
could also draw a roasted penguin on a BBQ of course, with juices dripping off its body. but i thought this was friendlier because we are such nice people ;)

That looks really cool :D
Is there a way to embed it into the default forum theme (subsilver2)? It would probably look pretty good in the middle, under the main navbar.

^^ wait a sec; if this were just its head, what would the two flaps on the side of it be? penguins don't have ears like that! and what about the two pink bits under its chin? acne?
jules, y u no make sense!?

i can draw a penguin with a penis for your private collection? or i can add some fire and we use it for the logo instead ;)

fuck, forgot about that. maybe will do it tonight. getting back into pixelart a bit, and simultaneously cross-stitch, which basically comes down to the same thing. we shall see, no promises :)

what do you use to make it?
Gimp I suppose. do you make it at 1:1 pixels then export huge without any interpolation ?

you know, im not sure. either some web-app pixel editor, or Grafx2
i think getting it big like that was simply exporting it as transparent png or gif or so, then using feh to set it as background? don't really remember :D
