first time poster, long time burner
Howdy, y'all!
My first experience with hacking was playing with Iomega ZipDrives and MS-DOS.
I got into Linux at the bottom of the recession when I was totally broke. I sold
my nice laptop and bought an $80 retired business notebook on eBay. Windows was
too slow, so I looked into Linux. After printing out the full Slackware manual at
the University library for free (sneaky), I got stuck on setting up WiFi. Just
now really got comfortable with ip, iwconfig, wpa_supplicant, and dhclient.
Anyway, I've been running BBQ spins for a few years. Best one's Malgus, love
DebianJoe's blog too. These days I'm grilling on my tiny Atom netbook and
ricing OpenBSD on the Core2Duo desktop. Recently been playing with Plan 9,
roasting my own BSD-P9P attempted spin.
I'll stop my preening and get back to work. The BBQ has taught me so much,
thanks!

Re: first time poster, long time burner
Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!
Wolf Hall really struck me with its colorful world:
shining gold, bruning red, grey velvet, rich indigo,
dark brown, etc. My experience with Plan 9 also made
me rethink the gut reaction I had against graphical
interfaces. It's almost like most screenshots I see
are either hacker dark, MacOSX light, or solarized &
powerlined (gasp!). Luckily, we have grillmeisters
like Dkeg to shine light in the darkness!
Long story short, rewatching the show and concurrently
drinking too much wine the other night led me to start
developing a full-feat JWM "Tudor" desktop --- complete
with Junicode and Pre-Raphaelite wallpaper! I'll share
when it's ready. :)

All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.
Re: first time poster, long time burner
Welcome welcome.
I need to get back to posting on my blog again, and this is the first chance I've had to even log on since I moved my family into the middle of nowhere (note: I DO have interwebz here!) As soon as I get done crying in the corner about the fact that I've probably totally made a huge mistake that I'll never be able to cope with fully, drink myself into oblivion, and possibly come up with a creative new toy; I'll get back to work.
Good having you around liknites.

Ha, eloquently put liknites. And thanks for the compliment.
Joe, indeed good to see you. As you know, I have experience with what it seems you're dealing with. Stay strong and follow your instincts.
