New member - Denethor

Unread post by denethor » Fri Sep 04, 2015 3:22 pm

Hi to everybody. I am an intermediate linux user. I've distrohoped a lot when I didn't have a job. I like what you are doing here. I found out about you from the crunchbang forums last year. I use win7 at work. I am a civil engineer so win is a must due to the absence of apps in linux. I use mainly debian lxde (minimal) on the home desktop and deepin on the laptop. I don't really have much time anymore for neither forums nor much distrohopping. So I'll probably be one of the quite members here... The main reason I registered was to ask about bbqtools in debian stable. Keep up the good work anyway.

Welcome to the grill! Interesting that you use deepin, I quite liked it (though it needs a comparably modern machine to run smoothly). Have you tried StartOS before? Similar idea, they had a heavily customized GNOME desktop, a bit like Cinnamon.

No worries about being quiet, most of us are :)

Well the site is Chinese and I am Greek, so no I did not. :-)
I tried almost anything just to try it. I always come back to lxde... From the bigger desktops I like KDE but I wish it was more modular... I really like to have only what I need installed and nothing more. Even the bbq releases are "bloated" for me in some ways... :-)

I have been reading the crunchbang forums for years, sometimes many hours during a day. They were the best forums IMO. Never registered though. That was the reason, I mean now I am posting during the working hours. Forums are quite addictive like the multiplayer games and earlier IRC channels...

Uhm, and hello, have fun!
