^^ Tai-chi Master is fantastic!
^ Oldboy is amazing, although I like Lady Vengeance a bit more.

Love the thing about this thread - it's a memory jogger :)
More obvious ones:
Pulp Fiction - still pretty tight and much imitated (even though there was probably something before which did those interlinking story thing)
Akira - back when manga (mania) was anime :)

Lady Vengeance is amazing although it's a tad too violent in the end. I have to say i am a fan of Chan Woo Park movies.

Wow guys. Amazing movies and memories, especially on the Asian ones.
Thanks for the recommendation Gekko. As you know I love Kurosawa's movies. Should post my faves:
Seven Samurai, Kagemusha, Ran.
On a slightly lower level:
Stray Dog
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041699/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1, Rashomon, Yojimbo the Bodyguard
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055630/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 (Sergio Leone loved this one and made a Western with Clint Eastwood,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058461/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1), Akahige
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058888/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1, High and Low
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057565/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1.
There are more but those are the best.

YOJIMBO! I love it. But I love everything Kurosawa made.
Also, Walter Hill kind of remade Yojimbo with
Last Man Standing.

^ David Lynch Yes.
Kurosawa's movies Yes
So many good ones already mentioned here is one to consider.
I hesitantly mention this one
'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' its almost a cult movie. There is something about it that stuck with me.

Some great suggestions here, already purchased *cough* Ghost in the shell and Akira.
One of my fav films ever is SLC Punk
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133189/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
I think i've mentioned it before in another thread, but its well worth mentioning again.

^ I thought it was RZA and I think he did the soundtrack
Speaking of RZA he wrote and directed
The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) it has low ratings but I enjoyed it.
Edit meant to say I was only aware of RZA in the movie and the soundtrack.

Usually when talking about animation I like I tend to mention some Japanese anime/series, but the South-Korean
Aachi & Ssipak has always been with me since the first time I saw it and got it on a beautiful dvd. Outrageous, funny, a summary of the plot is not enough to deliver the madness in here:
In a future where energy is made from fecal matter, the government rewards defecation with "juicybars". Small-time hustlers try to get rich while fending off the mutated Diaper Gang.
I love it.

I have to mention Fincher's Fight Club. A great caricature.
Vinterberg's Festen:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0154420/.
Even though I think Lars von Trier is overrated there is one that I really enjoyed like Europa
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101829/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2.
I saw a lot of Haneke's movies like Das Schloss
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120075/?ref_=fn_al_tt_4. Maybe I like it because I am a fan of Kafka's book. And of course Der siebente Kontinent
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098327/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1, a totally disturbing movie.

One of the characters may have a hand injury at some point in the film......... not wanting to give to much away though.
You should just visit the pirate bay and purchase your copy :DDD

Another favourite, you say? Sure:
Memories of Murder
This is a masterpiece. Almost everything Bong Joon-ho did deserves a watch, but if I had to pick my choice would be this one. Or
Mother. Or this one. I don't know.
