Re: fun with trash
^^ Haiku FTW, will try Minix soon though (can use NetBSD stuff now)
I think Haiku has been the snappiest OS to run for me, not counting KolibriOS ofc.
Cheers for the mention. Will try Haiku again, to see how much it has evolved.

Yes. This thread is relevant to my interests.
Here we have a gorgeous chrome plated turd from Cupertino. Right now it's got Mint PPC on it and it can't even use the proprietary CD/DVD writer. Fun fact: it also runs slower than dirt. So slow, in fact, that I doubt there's much future in running linux on it at all. But I figure it's a project worth throwing out to the grill for the wisecracks and/or feedback.

Re: fun with trash
There's a Bork PPC edition? Hell, has anybody ever done a PowerPC BBQ spin?
Nice try, darry. :)

Re: fun with trash
Oops my bad didn't realise it was PowerPC - sorry:(
LinuxBBQ is Sexy. Runs BBQ Stable.
Re: fun with trash
No sweat, darry. It's all good fun around the grill. :)
It was a serious pain to get MintPPC on it in the first place. "Open Firmware" my ass. I've got half a mind to disembowel the fucker and just drop a NUC in there, but the goddam display connector is proprietary, too!
It's shit like this, Steve.
Anyway, here's a link to what one crazy bastard went through just to make one of the damn things actually usable:

Re: fun with trash
I'd go back to Macos 9.2.2 :)
wow that guy goes all out to make it modern, then just puts OSX on it :)
I did chop a mac up once - idea was to look like the popular Terminator, cut all the plastic off and make it smaller, then put perspex over it. didn't really work after I'd 'modded' it and it was shit to begin with (4400) so that really did end up as trash.
Not modded, but running one of these at home as a print/file server for some reason, bit trashy, stays on though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Mini# ... d_Mac_Mini running Xubuntu

Re: fun with trash
I've got a Packard Hell 600mhz PIII with almost 200mb ram. After X-mas I'll give it shot with Bork. I guess it should be working, but the biggest question is how :)
