Obligatory Happy New Year (2016) Thread

Unread post by rhowaldt » Thu Dec 31, 2015 5:34 pm

happy new year.

honestly though, i feel the thanksgiving concept is better suited to the yearchange than its original holiday. instead of getting wasted somewhere and ending your night in a sea of puke and semen (you know what i'm talking about), why not look back and consider the year, with its ups and downs and goods and bads and whatevers and fucks (or lack thereof) and such. so, let's.

this year i've lost my job, moved to the other side of the world, and started working in a new job without any experience and am massively enjoying it. my mind took a beating and my relationship with it, but the ripples are starting to fade away and all will be calm soon once again.
at the BBQ i think we've had a really nice year, some great ideas and experiments by many different members of the group, both old and new, and a lot of proper new members anyway. i feel the ratio of new members who end up in the Rotten Meat section compared to those who end up writing an essay on how to configure mpg321 to download each sample containing the word "anus" off the internet and convert them to a pdf (yeah, fuck you mpg123, you inferior creature) is skewing more and more towards the latter. and that makes me happy.

may the new year be as much fun, or something like that.

here, here. Tonight I will be watching college football and drinking beer. My poor wife. Maybe we'll flip back 'n forth. Our tradtition for NYE is to go to our favorite Asian restaurant. We'll go fairly early to stay out of trouble with the crazies out there.

This year has been a tough one, but we have continued in a positive direction since our very tumultulous year a few years back. Colin is slowly adding foods to his list (he has big time food allergies) and the girls are in Kindergarten.

I'm also happy like rho, with the influx of welcomed grillers. Cheers to the new folks. I'm also happy both Slartie (was that even this year) and Archvortex were able to recover from such horrific accidents, and even Frank had an accident too, but again, was that this year? Either way, we're thankful of your recoveries.

I wish all of you a great upcoming New Year, and am thankful to have spent the last few with you.

Last year was sort of a rollercoaster ride for me, brand new set of front teeth (courtesy of reckless motorcyclist), some new (free) machines, recent addition to my family, etc.. i'm still looking for an opportunity to go back to school, for specialist degree or something. This year i'll be spending a lot of time travelling abroad so i think it's gonna be amazing.

Anyway Happy New Year friends, hope the grill stay strong and all the grillers stay innovative.

Best wishes

Happy new year dear brothers and brothels, with or without front teeth, with or without wives and kids, with or without BBQ on their machines -- stay healthy and wealthy in 2016...

It's really nice to have this crazy, creative, charcoal-colored computer corner where Linux takes up the smallest space between all those chunks of music, good reads, films and off-topic blah ;) Although I find the topics revolving around anuses and semen were a bit less than back in 2013 or so.

For 2016 I will stay sober (yup, no more alcohol, it has been a few weeks already and I don't miss it at all) and smoke a bit more. Latter works out surprisingly well already! ;)

Back from the beach, and the Champagne is chilling. It's a New Year's tradition in Charleston to make Hoppin' John, which is field peas (cowpeas) and rice seasoned with bacon. My wife will start cooking that shortly.

I've enjoyed bacon-flavored Linux these past few months. Learned more from the grill in that time than in the previous four years of poking around on my own.

This was not such a tough year for me personally, but the Charleston area suffered horrific gun violence and terrible rains.

I wish a saner, more peaceful New Year to everyone.
just say "thanks, man"

Happy new year, grillers. May your 2016 grilling be as smokey as a VW's emission levels.

Yeah wishing you guys a happy new year. Now if you'll excuse me, time to get sloppy drunk and perhaps wind up wading in a sea of puke/semen. Viva la 2015/2016 !!!

Oh yes, happy new year to all the grillers!

2015 was an exciting year. My better half changed her job with better conditions, we moved to another place and have big plans for 2016.

On the griller's side, Bacon is still producing crazy BBQ spins and it seems we found some new permanent residents that fit quite well into our corner.
