One of these days I need to make it out to HK and go hiking in the New Territories. Sounds like a nice place, and I would guess you could find secluded niches here and there. I don't like cities as much, perhaps because I have spent my life in Wyoming, but also because I feel like it is harder to make one-on-one connections with people in such a populated, busy environment. The Dim Sum in the morning would be worth it, though... Dim Sum has to be one of my favorite enthic foods, besides Vietnamese and Chinese hotpots (those suckers can be spicy, but oh so good!).

Everything in HK has probably changed so much since the last time I lived in the area. I know Macau definitely has and a lot of my old stomping grounds are gone and replaced by new buildings and hotels. Wanchai has always been the prostitute area as well as human trafficking and legal/illegal foreign worker spot. Oops, almost forgot about tattoos as well. Mongkok down to Yau Ma Tei is definitely the drugs area. I love Nathan Road and the vibrance (keep your wallet in your front pocket)there. I didn't realize how many illegal transactions per minute took place there til a friend who was a high ranking officer with the ICAC pointed out what was going on. The sheer volume of people makes it a great place to do business. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) at who are the drug runners, debt collectors, protection payment collectors are.

The New Territories used to be great for walking and to get away from the populace. There are also some great little villages that still make traditional foods from recipes used from ancient times using the same ancient techniques. Not this quick factory processing crap we get now.

I'm in Batu, East Java right now at my house there in the farmlands. Nice to get a break from tourists especially the Bogans. It's pouring down like piss from a racehorse (maybe cuz it's the rainy season). Hi-speed internet got put in yesterday so I'm good to go whether I'm here or in Bali. Here's a view from my wheelchair in the street in front of my house. Sorry, but the phone camera is crap.

@Jules: thanks for splitting it off :)
@simgin: my wife is not the jealous type, or i wouldn't be with her. if i'm not allowed to stick my dick in whatever i want, the least a girl can do is allow you to talk to other women regardless of their profession. i was waiting for a cab to take me home anyway, so we were just talking, plus i can get better girls without having to pay for them ;)

New Territories are nice, i teach some classes up there. Still need to explore some more, but definitely way more chilled out there than HK Island. People actually ride bikes in New Territories! amazing. only a handful of nutters who ride bikes on the Island. you'll probably die :D
