Justin Townes Earle R.I.P

Sad news for the alternative c&w scene. Truly one of the greatest in that genre.

Goodbye Diego. You tainted your name towards the end by inking that deal with revolting Hublot, and honestly you talked too much, but I'll always remember your "godlike" demolition of England and what you did with Napoli.

Hugh Keays-Byrne. :(

He showed us the correct way* to play an geriatric, lecherous, vain fat cat with silly hair who holds rallies for himself, commands an army of slobbering man-boy followers, and has an idiot spastic son riding shotgun at his side... unlike that sorry excuse for a US President.

*because he at least wore a fucking mask.

Valhalla welcomes you, Immortan. Ride on through, shiny and chrome!

Totally honest, I had to look him up on Google. But then I never watched Mad Max.

Yes, Debian <3, and may the kernel be with us. :D

Will there now be a flush of new Debian users?

True, RIP. That happens when you get integrated into a company that itself was bought by another company. That is why Debian as an (independent) project is so important.

Name rang a bell so I did a search. Turns out I've seen some of his flicks (back when I had some semblance of time management in my life). I can't remember the title, but there was one film he made about a debt collector. Morbid shit, equal parts realistic yet nonsensical. Enjoyed it lots.

^ I caught him the last time he was at Venice Film Festival, but I wasn't able to interview him unfortunately. My journalist powers weren't that strong. But I do remember people insulting him and his film during the screening for the violence in it. Fun times.

One of my youth's obsessions (courtesy of McBride's Breathless) is gone. Rock the heavens, Jerry Lee.
