Yeah it's a waste to open an own thread for lighters, but I'm curious what you are using to light your tobacco products (or refugee camps)

After a cheapo gas lighter had literally exploded in my hand (Made in Chinkia, normal) I decided to switch to windproof lighters. I acquired two plus one:

an IMCO 6600, this has no movable air inlet; an IMCO 6700, this is the one which can be adjusted; and a very standard Zippo Satin Chrome.

The nice thing about IMCO is, that they only need to be filled every two weeks. Quite important here in the South.

So, what's your preferred lighter?

I use a dented up zippo pipe lighter I've had for .. 20 years or so. I've had a bunch of different lighters through the years, but the zippo just keeps going.

Oh cool, I saw that one - has the opening where the standard windshield is. The more dented the better.

Pfft, lighter. Use matches! Non-safety matches! Channel your inner hipster! Let them go off brushing the denim inside your skinny jeans!!

Joking aside;
I lost a few Zippos and other fancy branded lighters* back when I was a regular smoker. Left them in bars/clubs most of the time. Now I just use a cheapo Bic/Cricket/GenericBrand for the occasional smoke.

*I wasn't a big fan of the fluid filled types. They sorta smelled. Preferred the gas types.

I use different things at different times and places. Wooden matches, three different Zippos with pipe inserts (brushed brass armor, 1941 replica Black Ice, and 1937 replica brushed chrome), and Clipper butane lighters (can be refilled and have the flints replaced, and last longer than Bic -- ivan introduced me to these.)

^ The 1941 replica is my fave Zippo, also the 1935 replica, I love the hinges! -- unfortunately quite pricey over here and no guarantee that it's really not a fake.

I do have matches here, but there are two problems: one is the humidity, the other problem is ... well, let me quote a Hungarian joke:

- What was delaying the Hungarian space program?
- Development of a working match

Only every 1 in 10 actually works without breaking or just smearing the head off. OTOH, they are in some nice WW2 matchboxes with photos of different "leaders" on them, Swastika and all that shit. Not exactly what I want to carry around with me.

I use a monkey d luffy (a character from famous manga) zippo lighter, and a cricket one (most of the time) because i mostly smoke cheap kretek.

I had every zippo lost, or more likely stolen. so yeah clipper had a very useful 'pokey bit' (the flint stem) or whatever came cheap or I found in my pocket..
I did have a cheap 'stormproof' lighter, that lasted me years, had a kind of jet burner, took normal gas. burnished copper effect with a large ganja leaf on it...hey, I was 16...

With matches smearing - must be, as you say, the humidity. I thought lighting a 'strike anywhere' match with one's nail was pretty cool, until once some came off and ignited under my nail...

Like Pids said, I use Clippers. When I cannot find them I try to buy Bics. Very rarely I use normal butane lighters, they simply do not last.
For the pipe I often used matches, now only when my rod lighter is empty, you heard it a nice little rod lighter that I can refill, maybe every two or three weeks. Works perfectly for lighting a pipe, especially outside.

Here is the porn, even with a new pipe:

I totally didn't pay attention to the lighter :D

Very nice pipe, I love that finish. Is that a Lorenzo pipe or so? I can only see it's 9mm, Billard (of course) and a single ring. I have something similar as half-bent from Molina.

My Zippo "collection" plus a Clipper.

Left to Right: brushed brass armor, 1941 replica black ice, 1937 replica street chrome (all with pipe inserts).

I don't have a 1935 replica yet; I don't think the pipe insert will fit in it. I'll probably buy one soon anyway, just so I have the set.

My favorite is the brass armor model -- the case is a bit thicker and it makes a very satisfying "klunk" when you close it (instead of the standard "click" :)

Seems like we should have a pipe thread somewhere. Or was it just lumped together with a tea and <insert random topic> thread?

i light my shit with whatever is available, which will usually be a regular BIC or Jeep lighter, or some other Chink shit from 7-11. as long as it lights my smokes, I am happy.

:) It is an Italian pipe indeed, a Passatore, only for 50 bucks. But I also had my eyes on a Molina in the same price range.
Here a better pic, because it looks so gorgous:
