That will be a challenge. Without the touchpad I have to see how to copy the output.

Sorry for the formatting. I used the Dell.

Code: Select all

lspci | curl -F 'sprunge=<-' http://sprunge.us
Then post the link.

(oh never mind -- pagebreak, I see the output now)

Off to walk the dog, but I will see if I can find anything later.

OK one more thing to try.

Run "xrandr" and note the default resolution.

Run

Code: Select all

 xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 640x480
Do you have a visible mouse pointer now?

Run

Code: Select all

xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode <default you noted in step one>
Is the mouse pointer visible now?

If this doesn't work I'm out of ideas. That machine would probably make a nice music server...

I think I give up, at least for now.

The screen resolution makes no change.

And yes, the mouse or touchpad is recognized.

Tried also a USB mouse, same behavior. And that is the strange thing. The cursor is there but it is like fading.

Ratpoison would be a good candidate for that machine. :)
