Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!
Today's LVFS/fwupd capsule update for my ThinkPad's BIOS didn't replace my custom set boot logo to the stock fugly "Lenovo", so I assume that dude I complained to on the fedoramagazine.org comments section really did work for Lenovo like he claimed. Now I don't need to extract the Windows version with geteltorito to a bootable thumbdrive every time. Yay!!

Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!
Olimpia Milan won game 5 against Bayern Munich last night and so they are going to the EuroLeague Final Four. I am more than happy for this.

Haven't got the cards yet - but we are legally allowed to spend 5 years in France!
I'm glad we're not yet going back to the UK - I plan to gut punch everyone who has admitted that they voted for brexit.
I mean we maybe should have not left, but here we are, we are living in our house the kids are actually liking the school adventure (anyone ever had to get up teens who do not want to go to school?) they actually seem happy, we had a laugh doing maths homework. Maths!

Congrats. The locals won't call you an English Gypsy anymore. What's the French word for Pikey? =P
They'll still call you a weirdo though, for the whole Linux and standing desk thing....
I bet the school cafeteria food kids get in France is way better than what's served in England.

Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!
Thanks Guys, hasn't arrived ... yet :/
I think we may need to declare last years 2020 tax.... which includes 9 months or so salaried work in UK and 3 months of UK salaried work in france...
I think it's fine - the income tax in France is fuck all with 4 kids. So I'm just not sure if they want the full year or what. I suppose for various calcs they would probably need the full year - which is a pain as the UK (the records that I have) goes April to April and FR goes January to January :D :/

The food varies, it's very French.. cider cooked pork etc - it is certainly 3 or so courses. Starter of course, then "mystery meat" as the kids call it, then It's Camembert or yogurt for afters though :)
Nice crispy bread is unlimited though!

After some lazy months, I've been back at running since September 1st. Sure, I have to catch up, but it still feels good.

Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!
^ At least when it comes to that I can show off for some celebration. I broke my weekly mileage of 80 km this year. Now I am at 90 km and something without setbacks although I recently noted my Achilles tendon trying to communicate to me. I know that is pretty extreme but I do that already for years and participated on some competitions. Due to Covid there were none so far. My last was a half marathon in 2019.
Running is my meditation and medication.

^ Wow, impressive and celebration-worthy indeed. I don't plan to get that far (km-wise and Ivan-legs-wise), but still, after a day of sitting and typing, running in the middle of nowhere does wonders for the body and the mind.
Re: Something to celebrate? Do it here!
Celebration time again, as seen elsewhere I ´ve got a promotion at work. Yey, more work and responsibility, but different from before so at the moment I feel very good about it. Let us see how I feel three months from now? ;)
And one more thing to celebrate, I completely forgot about it. Shame on me. Cleaned out the closet of old crappy hardware last summer and got myself a refurbished X1 instead. Super yey! :)
