INHERENT VICE: I don't usually compare films to the book they're based upon, but this time I'll do it: both equally failed to get my attention.

Anyone know if Z NATION is any good? I just found out that John Hyams directed some episodes, so I may be interested in this one. But, before kicking off with a tv series, I need some help.

CB4: Chris Rock in a sort of mockumetary about an iconic rapgroup. it's pretty damn funny.

Made by SyFy, does not sound good.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE: tasteless propaganda. Still wondering why I sat down watching this one.

just saw Little Shop of Horrors, and thought it was pretty cool. my GF is going to perform the play (with different ending to the film :) with some class of dunno-how-olds.

THE RUNDOWN (a.k.a. WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE): good action-comedy, you could see Indiana Jones here and there of course, but a fun laugh when you just want a fun laugh along with your beer.

FALCON RISING: solid action, but not much else in here.

SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO: blast from the past. It's been 15 years since the last time I watched this but I can still sing the main theme like a crazy nerd.

EVERLY: if you ever need another reason to stare at Salma Hayek, watch it. Although it's the only good thing you'll find in it.

UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN: I love the newest films of this series, some of the best action from the US. First one was old and cheesy, but fun in its own cheesy way. This one is a mess, only Michael Jay White shines. Note aside: probably the only JCVD movie I hadn't seen.

Just discovered Mubi. They seems to have a decent catalog showing this month;
https://mubi.com/films/showing

Five bucks per month isn't too bad, me thinks, though I'm not sure if the catalog will be as good every single month.

^ I was on MUBI before the major user interface upgrade. It has become too "touch friendly" with no chance to use the old interface, so I left it (yes, I know, I am a grumpy old man).
Used it only once for watching a movie, I was mainly using it to keep track of the films I watch/rate and of some useful film criticism insights.

I enjoyed A Beautiful Mind last night, but then I read about John Nash and found that a lot of artistic libertities were taken with his life story. It was still a good movie, though.

THE CONVERSATION: just needed to watch it again after CITIZENFOUR. One of my favorite Coppola's.
