Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown
Never seen Michael Jai White behind the camera before. Well, wish I hadn't seen him.
Wild Search
My favourite Ringo Lam's? Guess so. More character driven than his usual hard-action take on noir and realism, and that's why it works so fine with my senses.
Wild City
Latest Ringo Lam's. It just proves he's not the same director he used to be. He even tries something à la Wilson Yip's Bullets Over Summer, failing miserably.
Out of the Furnace
Premises are interesting, and acting is top-notch. Revenge takes so long to come, and all the first hour looks like too-stretched starters.
The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution
You know I do care for this kind of stuff, but this is wrong in so many ways. Read this if you want to know more.

watched the survivalist
Pretty good, not as exciting, but more realistic than other dystopian movies.

You have to make the kids happy of course.
Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography
^^ Spongebob was great though :D
saw Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's "Sisters halfway on the plane to, and the other half on the plane out of, Korea. enjoyed it, it was a fun watch and it is good to see comedy that is from a slightly different (female) point of view.

My Country, My Country
From the director of Citizenfour, a peculiar look at the war in Iraq. Fascinating.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Less interesting than I thought.
Pain & Gain
I was pointed to this by a film critic I usually consider one of the very best. This time I have to disagree with him, because only half of the title is true and it has nothing to do with getting money.

Quick Change
Shame this is the only Murray's direction to date. Not that I particularly loved this film, but there is good in it. Only that Randy Quaid ruins it with his annoying overacting.

Watched Samsara (2011) and Baraka (1992) both from the same director, both are brilliant especially when you're hmmmm intoxicated

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains
80s Diane Lane can do whatever she wants and I still love her.
Home Invasion
Crap at its finest.
True Romance
You know me, I need me some Tony Scott every now and then.
Sign O The Times
Best live concert ever? Maybe.
Behind The Candelabra
Michael Douglas is superb. Matt Damon is almost as good. But the film gets boring after a while.
Purple Rain
Leave the plot out and you have a great video clip.
1971
Scary documentary. Someone moved before Snowden to show us what lies beneath US agencies.
Under The Cherry Moon
Prince's best performance as an actor and as a director.
Graffiti Bridge
Style and music make it good, but it's a bit messy.
Deadpool
I hated the hell out of it. Bored me to sleep twice. Just finished it because I love Gina Carano. In fact, I watched this piece of trash just because of her. Damn you, love.
Blade
I thought it was better. I remembered it better, at least. Cheesy.
Wet Hot American Summer
I didn't laugh. If the idea behind this was to make me laugh I guess I have a different sense of humour.

Kajaki/Kilo Two Bravo
Watched this on netflix yesterday. Easily one of the best movie I've ever seen. Grim, gritty and funny as hell. Although it's kinda hard to understand the dialogues without the subtitles (I know, I barely understand normal English).

for our part we watched The Parent Trap (1998)
pretty awful. maybe should watch the original this is also the first time I came across Lindsey Lohan, still not sure who she is other than that.

Re: Movies, Flicks, Films, Videos, cinematography
Next week I will go for a movie ride. Here where I live they organize the 50th International Film Festival. It is the second most important in the German-speaking area, just after the Berlinale. 5 important directors will come instead of only one and of course always with Wim Wenders. It will be the whole week so I will be AFK pretty much from Tuesday to Sunday and going to the after show parties and film presentations.
If I have time I will report back because I know Gekko loves movie festivals. :)
http://hofer-filmtage.com/en/
There will be 120 movies in two cinemas. From short movies and documentaries to feature films. My better half and I can probably only pay for five but that is already a lot in one week.
Most if not all of the movies will premiere and some are retrospectives because of the jubilee.

^ Yes please, report back as much as you can!
I've been so busy with work lately I had little time for films. And that's too bad. I'll just say that Cheadle's Miles Ahead is horrible and Johnnie To's Three is great.

OK, I am in. We have the tickets after waiting for two hours. Lucky us, one hour less than usual.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0dy7AM ... ploademail
The opening was just in my neighborhood, 5 minutes from our home.
We were lucky, we have the tickets for the movies we wanted to see. Almost no sleep, no time and a ton of things here because of the jubilee and we have yet to see a movie. :D The screenings for us are beginning tomorrow for the whole weekend! This morning we will go to a presentation of some of the directors talking about the history of the festival. Doris Dörrie and Werner Herzog are among the speakers if you happen to know them, some of German's well known directors that already screened some of their first movies in Hof.
This night we will go to the after screen party, again in the hall you see in the Youtube video.
