Texas Killing Fields
I don't know why some say this has always been underrated. There is more than one reason for it being considered bad, and all of them are valid.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Far from the best Hawks and, to me, not even top 3 Monroe's, but yeah, better than I remembered.

Malum
My horror of the year? So far it sure is. Scary as hell, awesome soundtrack, jump scares and goose bumps all over the place.

The Seven Year Itch
Better than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes if you ask me, funnier at least. Wilder would do way better with Some Like It Hot, but it's undeniable how great he was at getting Monroe's natural charm.

All About Eve
Well, you don't really need me to tell you how fantastic this is. I rember studying it closely to better understand Showgirls but every time is simply a marvel.

Clash by Night
I've never seen this before which is absurd considering 1) Fritz Lang is behind the camera and, more importantly, 2) I thought I did go thorugh all Barbara Stanwyck flicks three years ago. Needless to say, she is fantastic here, and even though Monroe gets little screen time, she is almost as great.

Finally I saw Tod Browning's Freaks (1932). It is such a weird movie, in a good way.

Bus Stop
Monroe is the only thing worth saving here, but like anything from her last years she was just too much for everyone involved.

How to Marry a Millionaire
Just awful.

Barbie
I wanted to know what the fuzz is all about, but yeah, after 30 minutes I just fell asleep. I don't know what they were trying to do, but for the life of me I did not get it. Shame though, because for personal reasons Greta Gerwig and Frances Ha will always have a special place in my heart.

Mixed By Erry
A piece of long-lost Italian history, told in a lighthearted and rather unpretentious way. Good, sometimes really good. It made me think of gutterslob.

Spencer
Not really a Larrain fan, but I appreciated this quite a lot. Stewart is superb here.

I am into Italian cinema recently. After Estate violenta I watched Il traditore. The latter actually contains the Sicilian dialect apart that even Portuguese is spoken in that movie. Nice for language buffs like myself.

The Batman
I don't know, to me it seems like this looks at Nolan's films to give a similar take on a different source material. And just as with Nolan's, it lacks the epic tragedy vibe Snyder was able to find. And yes, Pfeiffer is still my favourite Catwoman.

Jacob's Ladder
The only Adrian Lyne's I was missing. In a filmography of hits and misses, this is definitely a hit.

I don't know why, exactly, but I felt like going through some of my Al Pacino's favourite performances, so this week I've been busy with:

- The Godfather Trilogy: part II is still my favourite, but part I is such an amazing experimentation with rhythm and narration in commercial cinema. Coppola was just a visionary back then. Part III however, despite the last efforts of Coppola remastering it, can't keep up.

- Carlito's Way: it's always hard for me to pick my favourite De Palma, usually is a bloodbath between this and Scarface that ends up reminding me why Femme Fatale and Passion are just as great.

Sick of Myself
From Norway with love? Quite the contrary. Kristoffer Borgli uses satire to reflect on what vanity has become today and he is not interested in taking prisoners. Watching this sitting next to people who enjoy social media stars may be worth just to hear their opinion at the end.

Vera Cruz
If you've never seen a Robert Aldrich's film before, I'd suggest you start right here.

Red Sundown
Jack Arnold is not a director I'd consider among the ones I love going back to, but I had never seen this one before and it's just a good old solid western.

^ Your thing, yes, check it out.

Ulzana's Raid
Dark, gritty. Pretty much one of the best westerns I've even seen.

Silverado
Wow, I thought this was a pretty enjoyable ride when I was kid but nowadays I find it just long and boring. I couldn't even sit to the end.

Bend of the River
This is now hailed as one of the greatest westerns ever made, but it didn't really click for me.

Man of the West
Now this is Anthony Mann as how I like him. Tobe Hooper must have known something about it, I'm sure.

London Boulevard
Now, this goes pretty much nowhere for most of the time, but 1) I can't resist cockney accent and 2) I can't resist Knightley. The thing is this film tries too hard to make everything fit in properly, but it's just too much.

Colette
See point 2) above, plus I am reading Colette's Chéri in French so I am kind of biased.

Host
Interesting in an Unfriended kind of way, but really nothing more than that.

J'accuse
This enters right into my top 3 Polanski's.

Life is hard and this is a great movie, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
