^ It's a nice one. Don't know if a dubbed version exists, though.

John Carter
For all the Spielberg it wants to be sometimes it gets it right, and so it's more pleasant than I thought.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Fuck Guy Ritchie (Riley Freeman).

His House
Horror used to be way more interesting in digging into social contexts.

The Broken Circle Breakdown
I hated the couple more than the film itself.

The Broken Hearts Gallery
No.

^ Feels like all my last movies that I cannot even remember their titles anymore.

Yeah, unfortunately cinema has not really been on my side this year.

^ To add to that: the only two films released this year that really impressed me are Nasir by Arun Karthick and Still Processing by Sophy Romvari.

Well, here's a title you're sure to remember; African Kung-fu Nazis

No, I haven't seen it, but plan to soon. The trailer is pure art.

Also, someone recommend me something on Netflix. I've been out of the loop for so long. Only recent shows I watched are that John Hamstring (or whatever his name is, the Thor guy) movie about him saving some Bombay druglord's kid (and yes Gekko, that take was impressive, sort of like a cross between The Raid and John Wick) and The Witcher (which I kind of regret watching because now I need to wait for the second season). Oh, and that Charlize Theron flick (because Charlize Theron) about how it's alright for gay couples to kiss inside a police van as long as they're immortal. None of these were deep or genre-busting, but good for popcorn entertainment.

I've got this new Sophia Lauren film and another Italian flick about some eccentric dude who builds his own island/country on the "Remind Me" list (because they're not out yet), but am bit lost on what to watch right now.

^ If you want to stay within Italian cinema I'd recommend Pietro Marcello's Martin Eden* and Claudio Caligari's Don't Be Bad. But it's a shame cinema has been such a stranger to me lately that I don't even have titles to drop. Damn.

* I wrote something about it here, in case you are interested: https://www.filmsinwords.eu/cinephilia/ ... /eden.html

It is not that there are no good films. My list is full but no recent movie convinced me or even interests me. But I have a lot of movies that are just waiting to be watched from every decade so I could not care less.
Also obviously this year's film festival in our town due to Covid was different but I was not participating or watching any movies. It is somehow ironic that they pulled it off just one week before the second lockdown though with reduced capacity and additionally online. Nope, it was not the same. I stayed home and had to work anyway.

African Kung-fu Nazis, wtf? That is the best trailer I saw in my life. I hate trailers.

our home theatre thing is basically screening kids films. which isn't too bad, they seemed to enjoy Baron Muncahusen (Terry Gilliam version) be nice to watch something a bit more adult, but - those kids films are amazing to watch these days. nice to see some other studios other than pixar too (minions one)

Yes, a good kids movie is always fun. Should really watch more of them, but no kids around anymore so there is no focus on these types of films.

Watched a film called "Leave No Trace" yesterday. It was good, worth it if you like a story about real people. Quote from imdb; "A father and his thirteen-year-old daughter are living an ideal existence in a vast urban park in Portland, Oregon when a small mistake derails their lives forever."

Lingua Franca

Bits of Wong Kar-wai and James Gray for a brilliant independent film.

^ Great! I won't go as far as calling it a masterpiece, but in a year such as this for cinema, it's a more than welcome surprise.

Watched a movie called "Green Book" on one of the stream services yesterday. It was ok, worth it, and had a nice cozy ending. Yes, I need a nice cozy ending sometimes. :)

Tesla

A good film in this weird 2020.

^ That about the original Nikola Tesla or that car manufacturer with the petulant CEO and most incorrigible fanboy community on Earth?

The former, but if you can guarantee the latter is directed by Michael Mann I could give it a shot.

A new movie about Nikola Tesla. I have to give it a shot.
