Saw a quite good drama film on N´flix this weekend called "Tallulah". If you like drama film of course. :)

For all the bad things I always say about contemporary Italian cinema, Vincere really did manage to shut me up. Highly recommended.

^ The fact that it has Tom Bombadil in it makes it a better rendition than Jackson's already.

On a different note (pun intended), I watched Once and Blinded by the Light. Both films deal with the difference music makes in one's life, the first dealing with the subject in a much more convincing way. If you like Springsteen, though, the second one will be your cup of tea no matter what.

Last night I was a bit tired and really couldn't focus on the books. I wanted something comfy, just to chill, so I put on Visconti's The Leopard, one of my favourite Italian films. Knowing it well, I thought "who cares about the 3 hours, I can fall asleep without offending the great Luchino". It turned out I didn't sleep and stay up until after midnight just for it. Damn you, Visconti.

on the more high brow tip than normal for me we watched 12 angry men (criterion) and it was really good.

Was forced to sit through Mortal Kombat with my partner's brother today. Now, I'm probably in the bottom third (honestly, more like bottom tenth) of the worldwide intelligence index, and even I felt dumber after watching this. Only saving grace was Joe Taslim as Sub Zero, but seriously just watch The Night Comes For Us instead if you wanna see him be a badass in a overly violent martial arts film.

Oh, also watched The Courier a few days ago. Benny Cucumber is a top-tier actor.

Rich and Famous and Crossing Delancey: I got these for the better half but I'd lie if I said that they didn't move me.

Bumped into David Lean's classic Brief Encounter yesterday. A delightful work on close-ups that really made me wonder about the distinction between dialogues and background noise.

The Woman in the Window

One of my favourite of this year.

Watched the first three Saw films, I already knew the first one, but it's been years so I wanted to get comfortable for the following chapters. I am not sure increasing the levels of gore and sadism is enough to keep the interest up. It didn't really work on me.

Saw the first many years ago, thought it was quite "fun" because of the surprise effect it had on me then. I have not seen any of the follow ups though, and I have become more sensitve to gore with the years.

Wantched "The Mitchells vs The Machines" the other day, a Netflix family movie, mostly for the kids really. It did get some quite good reviews so I had been looking forward to it. But I must say that I am very disappointed with it. It probably fits a younger generation better than me. So if some you have watched it together with kids, did they like it? It is quite noisy, with a very simple roadtrip story and family is everything. Very conventional stuff. At the least that is how interpreted it.

Riders Of Justice, or Retfærdighedens Ryttere in its native Danish.
I'm nowhere near the movie buff some of you guys are, but fwiw this is probably me favourite film of the few I've managed to watch in 2021 (even if its technically a 2020 release). Lars Brygmann needed more lines though. He was hilarious.

Wrath of Man

I am not a Guy Ritchie fan, but this may be my favourite of his.

^ You may disagree, but I feel Guy has been on a bit of a recovery run with Man From UNCLE and, more tellingly, The Gentleman. Finally managing to wash the stench of Madonna off himself. Haven't seen Wrath of Man yet though. Trailer give the impression of a typical Statham film rather than a typical Ritchie one.
