Shin Ultraman
I was hoping for another Shin Gojira, but this just proves that Anno cannot just apply the Evangelion scheme to every expression of Japanese science fiction.

Decision to Leave
Park Chan-wook is one of the greats, yes, but this is almost two and half hours with only glimpses of what I love him for. There are special moments, and I can see why film critics went nuts over this, but where it shines on style it lacks on content for me.

Recently I watched Walkabout, an Australian movie. It was a really nice experience.

Watched a nice film called "What Maisie Knew" this weekend. It is with the view of how a small girl experiences her parents divorce and related troubles. It was actually quite good.

The local filmclub had a movie called "Whitnail and I" on the repertoire yesterday. Have seen it once before, went to see it, and must have forgotten a lot. A very funny film about two dudes getting drunk, taking a trip into the countryside and doing stupid absurd shit.

Sounds like a real life experience. :D

yup :D
classic film :)

We watched "The green knight" which was OK.
I may have googled a few reviews/explainers which helped make more sense of it than I was getting.
Great shots, good acting, weird plot (but then so was the book lol)

Poker Face
I generally watch all movies with gambling involved, especially if cards related. Mainly because I secretly want to go to Vegas and win big even though I didn't have the courage to place even a small bet when I was in Macau, so who am I kidding?

Anyways, this film bored the hell out of me. I do respect Crowe for trying, but still, it mostly felt like a film made by middle age white men targeting middle age white men, and I don't feel middle age just yet.

Sick
Hyams' back and well, for a pandemic-era slasher, it does its job.

Plane
It starts good, well at least better than more Butler's films anyway. Then, same old thing.

Magic Mike's Last Dance
Some say this is the best of the trilogy, but to me is slightly above the first: intesting, well done, choregraphy rules, but the second one is just a different class altogether.

Everything Everywhere All at Once
45 minutes in and I was asking to myself: "Is it going to start any time soon?". Not that is a bad film per se, but it mostly made me think of how great golden age HK cinema was, which it doesn't even make sense since this has little to do with HK cinema.

Knock at the Cabin
As usual, Shyamalan works for me, and I appreciate the fact the there is still a chance for films lasting less than 2 hours.

^ Yep, there seems not be anymore films under two hours. Every new movie, if I watch them, is just too long and boring. The last one was the senseless, to me at least, Ad Astra. Just one example. I could count more. Do not get me started on modern science fiction movies. I love science fiction but every modern movie just disappoints.

The Color of Noise
Unless words such as "Tom Hazelmyer", "AmRep", "God Bullies", and "Stu Spasm" make any sense to you, this documentary won't be of any interest. For me, this took me back to some great days of noise rock, even though I wasn't listening to all the bands shown here. Helmet was the band that opened the doors of AmRep to me, and I remember fondly how everyone around me hated these sounds. Fun days.

Rope
Just a random pick from my Hitchcock boxset to get me started one more time with a proper Hitch-binge. The film itself is a masterpiece, but Hitchcock rarely missed anyway.

Cool. Though I cannot find it here anywhere. Only a trailer on Youtube.
I remember Tad, Helmet, Mudhoney and of course the Sludge lords Melvins.

Watched "Nomadland" with Frances McDormand yesterday. A good, slow movie about real people.

^we watched that too a while ago. Was good.
Really brought home for us the freedom of - and yet the reliance on - vehicles in the great US of A (and hell, anywhere.)
ie your life is in a van.. and that van doesn't start then, well fuck you essentially.

The Night of the 12th
What a great film! It defies genre to point at an open question that we don't know how often we end up asking to ouservelves.

Novembre
An incredibly smart film, even experimental in its use of contemporary tragedy (the 2015 Paris attacks) and images to tell it. Much like what Antidisturbios did for TV series, but with the freedom that only cinema at its best has. By far my favourite Cédric Jimenez's.

Danton
An adaptation of a play, and you would have guessed it without even know it, but everything about the French Revolution always interests me. Depardieu is incredible, ça va sans dire.

Now you filled up my watch list. :)

PS: La révolution française (1989). It was quite enjoyable. If you are interested. It is a long one. I watched it in three parts. The conflict between Danton and Robespierre is also treated. Now I can compare both movies. How I missed that one with Depardieu. I guess it will be without competition.
