OK, where's the coffee?

Unread post by Sector11 » Tue Aug 20, 2013 8:57 pm

I walk in the room and no coffee pot? I need coffee to conky ... which reminds me I gotta look for a conky thread.

I'm not a programmer, I don't do bash, perl, python or windows. Floors and counters I do.

But I'll do what I can where I can ... and lurk-n-read a lot!

OK, now to set up my profile....

Welcome aboard. You may find yourself among the conky-averse. But hey, bacon made LXDE kinda popular, so ya never know, right?

Hello Sexy Sector, welcome to the conky-agnostic bunch - I even got raped for using dzen2 ("BLOAT!") but as ^bones says: ya never know. ;)

@coffee: gotta ask Ivan, he's the "Secretary of Coffee Relations"

Been a hell of a day so far, first I hit [Ctrl]+q for @ and we know what that does ... had nice little quips for most of you ... almost done ... had to start again ... got all the way down to gutterslob and saw wuxmedia's comment to slobber and started laughing ... hit something and blink! Iceweasel dove down the hole! GRRRRRRRRR at me!

So this time a short version. Thank you one and all for the warm welcome.

@ Gutter, I'll wait for a coffee, sex change or not, you are not my type. :O)

@ rhowaldt - sewer? Do I need hip-waders?

@ bacon - "Secretary of Coffee Relations" is a good title for Ivan ... as I recall he makes a brew that will curl your hair. I've seen his equipment. {down Gutter, I'm talking coffee. Scheech, guy gets a sex change and all he/she/it thinks about is sex this, sex that} .... back to bacon; You really made LXDE 'kinda' popular? Damn if you can do that conky should shine ... People should really look at gutter's one liner.

To the "conky-averse" and the "conky-agnostic bunch" I guess conkyForecast in a terminal is out of the question as well, I mean if dzen2 is bloat I can only imagine what conky and conkyForecast (python script) would be considered. But it looks cool:

@SexyThing11
Conky in cli-mode is actually pretty light, plus most WM statusbars can pipe conky-cli output without much hassle or memory penalty. Depending on output, a conky-cli for say, 10 variables piped to dzen2 could be lighter (memory wise) than piping the ouutput of 10 separate .sh scripts to dzen2. Anyways, start your conky thread and post that config. Never know when I might want to pipe something.
