I went to school for a year in Bristol way back a million years ago (got my A-levels there). An old schoolmate, Dom Pipkin, plays New Orleans music in the London area with his band, Dom Pipkin & the Ikos. Many of those events are tied to Louisiana-style food. Some of that cooking actually looks like it might faithfully reproduce real bbq from the Southeast US. Look out for it.
Way back in the late 80s when I was in Bristol, the thing was American-style burger places. The burgers were absolutely terrible. I shudder to think what Bristol bbq might be like. Then again, UK food has probably come a long way since the 80s.

Yup not in Brighton anymore, living in Bradford-on-Avon atm. Nice and idyllic :)
Yeah, Bristol has some stuff, but not yet tried it. Btw will join the Bristol & Bath Linux User Group soon.
@Maso, there are some kick ass burger joints in Bristol now, trust me the food has evolved a lot since the 80s, pheeew :D
