The REAL question for His Mechanical Baconness:

Unread post by antiv0rtex » Sun Nov 17, 2013 8:19 pm

Are vegetarians allowed here? :P

Hi, I'm antiv0rtex from CB-land. I'm new here. My friends think I'm some kind of s00p3r l33t h4x0r because I run an FTP server in my closet. My friends are misinformed.

Glad to be here, thanks for having me.

everybody is allowed here as long as they don't bring any Rotten meat. stop taking yourself seriously, stop being offended and do your homework, and we're glad to welcome you, whether you decide to throw veggies on the grill or a nice steak. hope you fit into that categorie antiv0rtex :)

Welcome. As far as the 'meatiness' of the grill, I personally see it as a metaphor for useful applications that eschew the tradition of sacrificing performance for some misguided sense of 'user friendliness.'

If you mean that literally, then while I don't see that as actually important, I'll probably harass you about it in a friendly/joking manner.

Do your homework, learn on your own, break things horrifically for the sake of learning, and I'm sure you'll fit right in.

Ha! antiv0rtex welcome to za grill!

I like vegetarians, especially stewed. Somehow their flesh is more flavorful; and my Goulash is well-known even outside of Linuxland.

Anyway you're not the only vegetarian here (I wonder if we have a real vegan among us).

By judging your posts on #! I am sure you will feel right home here, in the Land of Borkage.

^ I was vegan for close to 15 years. But now I'm not, and haven't been for 10 or so years. I still love vege and vegan food, but sorry, nothing beats a well grilled steak with a beer. :D

~shudder~

That was one of my favorite foods as a kid. Then I went a long time without them (was a vegetarian too for a few years). But when I started eating meat again i couldn't wait to try them. I did and they tasted like plastic, so I don't know if the formula changed, or I changed tastes.

honestly, its different when you get older, have wife, kids, responsibilities and being vege , eco-friendly is just out of my pay grade at this point. It really is a shame, I agree. My decisions were not on taste, but morals. But my ideals remain, as regardless of what I eat, we as a family do our best to stay organic, free-range, etc.

full disclosure: i used to be a vegetarian for 3 years. then i got tired of it, and threw away silly ideals because they were in my fucking way :D
(still agree with all the objections to mass-production of food and blahblah though, just don't live by it cause /care or /lazy)

Welcome to the grill!

The food on this BBQ is organic and not mass produced, if you know that you will be fine.

I have a friend, he was for years vegetarian just because he did not seem to like meat, what turned him was a one year stay in Brazil.

Hi antiVortex! A familiar name from CrunchLand. I'm a noob here too, but likely to remain so after you're a master griller.
