A wonderful book that tells the story of Italian war campaigns in Ethiopia under Mussolini fascism. An often overlooked story which Italians like to forget and don't talk about.

Pidsley, you might find this one interesting - if you didn't already read it

Nothing like a good, depressing Dostoyevsky to sit down and read with a cup of coffee in the afternoon :D

And this is on the way (planning on savoring it over the next few weeks):

I am into rock criticism lately.

On the nightstand currently:
Greil Marcus, _Mystery Train: Images of America in Rock 'n' Roll Music_ (1974).

Dated and a bit pompous, but has moments. Some good investigations of the roots of rock in 1920s blues recordings and American country music. If you're into The Band, it's a must-read.

The best rock criticism is by Lester Bangs. He's a trip. Try the compilation of his columns called _Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung_.

^ I like both those books. Bangs inspired me a lot during my short time as music critic.

I got these two beauties, 50% off in a little bookshop in the city center. Both Italian translations from French critics (I can't read French, but I love French film criticism).

^^ Nah, just discovering the truth about WWI and II, and also a fan of Germanic and Norse mythology/that old time religion. Happy New Year, sim!
^ I do have a little on my dad's side, bacon. I am enjoying the book quite a bit. The more I read, the more I realize the extent of the bullshit we are fed in American schools, Hollywood, etc.

P.S. My wife and I are going to the local community college soon to learn German. :O

^ Cool and good luck, love learning languages. We are quite a few here in the grill that are bilingual, trilingual etc. It's all good.

And btw Bones, you probably know a norse myth then. Vikings did not have horns in their helmets, typical Hollywood bullshit :/
