As some of you may know i'm dyslexic and up until a couple of years ago I struggled with most texts and found I missed words when reading or found some grammar impossible to understand. Reading whole books was so difficult that I never read for pleasure.

Now I have various tools to assist me, I can read and understand almost anything. I now have a growing book collection and today on a family trip I purchased these :

The Lord of The Rings (1991) with appendices + maps - J.R.R Tolkien

&
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gq5w86mnyhpht ... 6.jpg?dl=0

The Art of War (Sun Tzu) & The Book of Lord Shang (Shang Yang)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/u7wi2mmd4k4xg ... 0.jpg?dl=0

The Hound of the Baskervilles & The Valley of Fear - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qd6s841eqafjc ... 9.jpg?dl=0

A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hxbxev9nu2f22 ... 8.jpg?dl=0

The book i am reading at the moment is :
The Three Muskateers - Alexandre Dumas
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rne8rpxt1dvuw ... 2.jpg?dl=0

I read on average one book per week, however I have read one book a day for a few days last month. Safe to say I am now a book worm :D

Sounds really interesting Ivan. When i studied history in school we only learned about JFK and all the terrible things white people did in Africa. Nothing about Europe, WW1 or WW2, or UK history.

Wux - thought you knew everything about linux already? :D

^ I only studied about pre 1850 england. As I mentioned to my collegue today. "there is a fucking lot of history"
^ Only Bacon knows everything there is to know - if you look those are practice tests, so I quite like that approach, there is a ton of material, and my first informal run through I got pretty high marks. turns out i don't know much about systemd :)

Just started using Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/748 ... uel-uberti

I needed a place to discover new books and track my reads at the same time. Kind of like what Letterboxd does for me with cinema.

I put only 2017 books, honestly can't be bothered to put all my books on it.

The only hardcover book left in my house that i still give a fuck about is Horowitz's Art of Electronics 2nd Edition https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/167 ... ent_Manual

Which i bought (by the kilograms!) alongside few other reference books from a thrift market during my undergrad years.

Finished with "My Struggle" by Karl-Ove Knausgård. For me, one of the most extraordinary novels that I have ever read. If you want to read something really "adjective of preference", give it a try! :)

Currently reading:

- "Homegoing" by Yaa Gyasi: so far absolutely fantastic and highly recommended
- "The Memory of Tiresias: Intertextuality and Film" by Mikhail Iampolski: a difficult read for someone not well-informed on the story of arts and philosophy such as myself, but the challenge has been fun so far. Learning a lot too, so always a welcome add to my shelves.

I picked up 'Salem's Lot from Stephen King. I loved some of his books when I was a kid, but completely forgot about him.
