^ Oh yes. I got this really amazing professor that keeps dropping book titles, it's a never-ending list of classics I am still missing.

Pennac was right about Gadda: he is the most Italian of writers.

While I'd really like to know how hard translating Gadda in another language could be, I have to pick what will be my last book of this 2020. Three choices:

- The Man Without Qualities (Robert Musil)
- The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoevsky)
- After Virtue (Alasdair MacIntyre)

I think Dostoevsky could be the one.

Great books, especially the first two. And because I still have to read The Brothers Karamazov I would go with it.

^ I know way too little about Dostoevsky, having only read a couple of things of his. His name came up quite a lot during my studies on nihilism, so it's about time to put an end to my ignorance.

Finally I got some time for a new book and because of Gekko I downloaded the Brothers Karamazov as eBook. ;)

Finished reading "Killing Commendatore" by Haruki Murakami. I am not sure what to think about it really. I enjoyed it, but...not sure if it really were good? Banal? Or just an in between masterpiece work? Will let my subconscious work on it. :|

I already had the Penguin Books edition bought ages ago somewhere in London, but this is so much better: the quality of the paper is incredible, the font small but always easy to read, and the footnotes give great context. And once again, I'm deep into one of my favourites.

Now, that is not a picture I took (because I don't have the book in my hands right now), but that's the edition I finally found at a decent price, meaning 33€, shipping included, from an old Italian bookshop near Milan. If I got it right, it's a book from 1962. I don't understand why the books of such an important philosopher can go out of stock everywhere in Italy, especially considering they are still used at University.

^ It arrived and it is absolutely gorgeous. I can't actually approach it at the moment because I am deep into Kierkegaard for my next exam, and if you know a little about Hegel, you know how evil he was in making it hard for you. Still, it has to be one of the few copies available in Italy, so imagine my joy. :)

I don't know if any of his works are translated in other languages, but if you happen to get your hands on a book by Valerio Magrelli, go for it. I'm not talking about his poetry (I know little about poetry to appreciate it), but his other books, especially the short but very moving Geologia di un padre.

One of the finest Italian writers I've come about in a while.
