@wux: you need a bigger desk :) if you decide to take that advice, i believe it would rock if you built it yourself, because somehow in my mind you are capable of doing shit like that (right? :)

@subsentient: pretty impressive collection.

re; cats, yeah looks like my mum's cat, getting so old she walks sideways...(the cat not my mum) but still loves a cuddle and a fuss (still the cat, although my mum doesn't mind a fuss now and again)

err, yeah I could build one, it'd be more of a 'huge shelf' with legs, not so good at carpentry 8)
welded steel box sections, not a prob... thanks Rhow for believing in me...

@subservient: you want to take those pictures in daylight, you know, the "big light" which means it's bedtime.... 8P
looks very 'cozy' chez vous, love those throws and decorations. 8)

@Wux: I'm a nightowl. I often wake up at anywhere from 2PM to 6PM and I'm up for 20 hours. Daylight is not always an option.

I thought it would be a good idea for me to post my iron on here- I have looked through the whole thread and have enjoyed people's setups.

My laptop is an Asus Zenbook UX32VD. It runs Linux beautifully and is nice and quick. I take it everywhere with me and it has great battery life so is useful for lectures. Specs are as follows:

[*]Intel i5
[*]Nvidia GT620M
[*]4GB RAM
[*]1366 x 768 13.3" matte display
[*]240GB Crucial M500 SSD

My desktop is one that I built a few years ago and have added parts to. Specs are as follows:

[*]AMD Phenom 2 555 Dual Core (Unlocked to a quad core thanks to a nifty motherboard)
[*]ASUS motherboard
[*]8GB 1600Mhz Crucial Vengeance
[*]500GB + 1500GB Seagate Barracudas
[*]120GB OCZ Vertex 2E
[*]3GB AMD Radeon 7950
[*]Xigmatek Aquila case
[*]Corsair H100 water cooling system with 4 fans in push pull
[*]Coolermaster 750W PSU

My peripherals are:

[*]Dell Ultrasharp U2412M 24" monitor
[*]Beyerdynamic DT990PRO headphones
[*]Fiio E10 Olympus DAC/Amp

Finally, I have my HP Microserver N54L, it is pretty much stock aside from the following changes:

[*]Optical drive
[*]Dual port Intel Gigabit NIC
[*]16GB 1600Mhz Kingston HyperX RAM
[*]Akasa silent fan

I use the server for running VMs (FreeNAS, arch linux with game servers and file sharing on, a linux kernel build server and an IPFire router)

^ Amen. My family thought I had lost my mind when I spent hours trying to find a T410 in good condition for cheap :D They couldn't figure out why I didn't just grab the E440 my Uncle offered me for free; the keyboard sucked and I thought he might as well pass it on to someone who wouldn't hate it with a vengeance.

This is my primary machine.

Image

2 x 2TB HDDs, 2 x 500GB SSDs, Nvidia GTX780Ti, 16GB RAM, i7-4770K.

It's hooked up to a 27 inch Asus 144Hz screen, and a 22 inch Dell-something

The headphones are Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro (250Ohm) and Logitech g930 (wireless). The battery in the g930 is turning to shit, so I might see about cracking it open and finding a battery replacement.

It's multibooting with Win 8.1 (soon 10), B0rk, Slack, Sid, AntiX. I think there are a few more dists floating around on it.
