Ahh, I see.
my X1 is too new to have docking stations, that it actually 'docks' into. Just some overpriced USB 3 block thing.

Had a look at the pictures of it, looks damned smooth. Very cool, and with specs like that a I suppose it blasts away leaving an old T collecting up the dust after it. ;)

Wish I had one too. :)

Now I only use the clit. I disabled the touchpad completely. Btw on Stretch scrolling is working ootb with the trackpoint unlike Jessie where you have to muck around.

I've had the x220 for a while now and it's great. I've disabled the touchpad in favor of the nub. Installed a hacked bios to put an atheros wifi card in. I'll eventually put coreboot on it. Maybe

Okay I move these to the Thinkpad section.

Got the X60 today and it's excellent. Only 2GB RAM and a 24GB SSD in it, but it boots straight into Emacs without WM. It does already have an Atheros instead of the Broadcom, and Intel onboard gfx, so I can coreboot or libreboot it tonight. So far, it's a joy - I like it even more than my T42.

sooo....

(edit: removed rant)

installed libreboot on the x60 today and it's running fine.

steps to reproduce:
1) get libreboot utils and the x60 rom (mirrors: https://libreboot.org/download.html#https) and untar them

Code: Select all

wget -c https://mirrors.peers.community/mirrors/libreboot/stable/20160907/libreboot_r20160907_util.tar.xz
wget -c https://mirrors.peers.community/mirrors/libreboot/stable/20160907/rom/grub/libreboot_r20160907_grub_x60.tar.xz
unp libre*
2) backup your factory BIOS as outlined here: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Libreboot ... ginal_BIOS
3) follow https://libreboot.org/docs/install/#flashrom_lenovobios
4) now fine tune the grub screen, I set the GRUB_TIMEOUT to 0 in /etc/default/grub -- remember to update-grub after the changes
5) also, you want to get rid of the high pitch buzz. Install powertop.
sysvinit users run ./powertop.trisquel7 in the libreboot utils directory, systemd users can create a service in /etc/systemd/system/powertop.service:

Code: Select all

[Unit]
Description=Powertop tunings

[Service]
Type=oneshot
RemainAfterExit=no
ExecStart=/usr/bin/powertop --auto-tune
Environment="TERM=xterm"

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
and then systemctl enable powertop && systemctl start powertop.
6) to get rid of error messages in dmesg, install intel-microcode and possibly firmware-misc-nonfree

boot time has drastically decreased, by the way. shutdown is immediate. Recommended.

^^ yeah, better don't play with it if the model is not 10000% supported. Actually I was quite shitting my pants during the process.

^ yep, started with -g switch ;) this you notice, but no comment about my sexy fbterm with Hack fonts and systemd ticking? aye... :D
