Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
Bacon, my friend, once again you have provided the germ of the solution!
xmodmap -e "keycode 9 = Super_L"
xmodmap -e "keycode 66 = Escape"
Does the trick! Now I just need to config PekWM to tile similarly to openbox. . .
FWIW, keycode 156 is linked to the 'Access IBM' key, but although it remaps to Escape using the above method, it just doesn't want to map to Super_L . . . or the free blowjobs, for that matter. ;)
LinuxBBQ never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for all the help!

Mmmmm, chlamydia, a fantastic spin by Julius. Still have it on an old lappy to remind me of Sardinia :D

Kondor, y u no make intro thread!??!
All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.
Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
Aw shyucks. I'm just a stupid noob around here -- I figured since this thread was in the /dev/null section I could say my hellos right here. Guess I'll go lurk a few intro threads to see what's appropriate.
Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
For the benefit of T40 users who may find it useful:
so I recommend this instead:
So far, so good over here.
But for any keymapping wizards out there, I'd like to tug your sleeve for additional tips, especially for rassling the 'Access IBM' key into submission.
After using this for a couple of days, it doesn't *quite* do the trick. Because with this setup, capslock does both capslock *and* escape. At the same time. (evilmode WTFs a-go-go)xmodmap -e "keycode 9 = Super_L"
xmodmap -e "keycode 66 = Escape"
Does the trick!
so I recommend this instead:
Code: Select all
xmodmap -e "keycode 9 = Super_L"
setxkbmap -option caps:escape

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
^ I can just add one thing: the Fn button is managed by the BIOS, no matter what xev says. Might be the same s(h)ituation for the Blue button too :/

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
That's a nice tidbit, Bacon, my man. I guess that means I'll never remap Fn to Ctrl . . .
Damn, this situation might make for a decent excuse to go full Stallman on the BIOS. :)

^ He has an X60, not sure if the FSF blob will run on a T4x :) Apparently, only on a T60: http://www.libreboot.org/docs/hcl/index.html

Re: IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
what - you mean to say you're working that i7 too hard, with a BBQ spin...? c'mon dkeg :)
EDIT, ahh I read the thread where it's cool enough - but spins too much.
I recall dura mucking around with that, and powertop, doesn't thinkpad have a special program?

It's actually just an i5 ... haha
I'm looking around. It shouldn't be in based on what I'm doing and the temp.
