A new beast is coming to my desk. A nice T400 for 150 Euros, I upgraded it to 4 GB RAM. Of course I chose the Intel only model with the highest screen resolution.

Excellent choice, ivan. I'm keeping my eye on 400 series Thinkpads, too. Currently looking at T420 models.

Yeah and I could not decide which one to take. They had all the fancy old models for great prices and I just took one of the cheapest with my preferred configuration and without an OS. Will be coming tomorrow I think. I am becoming a collector of old Thinkpads and replacing everything that is not one.

I just grabbed this very clean T420 for $150. The Windows 7 installation, however, won't last past the first hour in my hands. :)

Received the T420 yesterday. Booted it up just fine, poked around Win 7 for a bit, discovered that the DVD drive doesn't work. No big deal, install from thumb drive. Rebooted, and Win 7 decided to auto-update itself, which resulted in Win 7 being hosed. Haha, oh yeah, there's a reason I don't use Windows. No loss for me, although I wish I had noted the battery life before Windows killed itself, to compare against Linux battery life. Two hours fully charged, which is the same as I'm getting on the T61. So, I will probably purchase a new battery, as I hear I should be getting at least double that.

As far as the hardware goes, the build quality is definitely not the same as the T61 or older models, but it's tolerable. It's faster and has a sharper display, so that's nice. I may replace the DVD drive with an SSD drive, we'll see.

I am also very happy with the T400. Though I need a new battery even though it came with a battery for the bay. But this too, does not last long enough.
Everything works perfectly although the keyboard was taken off once and is a little bit looser than on the X200. It came with no OS because that is what I wanted. Put Debian on it straight after delivery. No hiccups.
Now it is one of the most powerful machines at home and people still buy overpriced new stuff. :)

@Frank that's a helluva frickin deal for only 1.5 juta in Indo

I just got a refurbished T-410 Intel Core i5 M 560 2.67 GHz with 8 GB RAM and 500 GB SATA drive with 14" screen for USD $225. Only complaint I have is the graphics card sucks donkey balls (Graphics: Card: Intel Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller)

I also have no problems with Intel integrated video. In fact I look for it specifically when I buy another test machine.
