^ Thanks Mate :)
already loving the dedicated middle button!,
track pad is a bit modern, but nice, now i can see what people are going on about with the keyboards, although appreciated, not the old IBM style.
all the buttons, webcam, sound, wi-fi, keyboard backlight control and fancy shit all work OotB (haven't tried the fingerprint reader just yet)

oh wow, this looks pretty modern. ^ I just checked on taobao, the 8GB/256GB SSD/i7 version costs around 450USD.

yeah that's pretty much the price of it here. B grade screen and casing, not that I care.
Yup it's a 1st gen, (better keyboard) i7 256Gb SSD (msata I think) with 8 G of RAM
GFX card is good, not amazing, not that I play any games on it, yet.

Looks damn good but true, it has the new Lenovo keyboard. I think the finger print reader never works ootb. You have to fiddle with it. Personally I do not care.

I have finally joined the club.

Bought myself a Lenovo ThinkPad L412. i5 2.4Ghz, 8Gb Ram, Wifi, Webcam, Fingerprint Security, 14.1" Widescreen LED, 250Gb Hard Drive and a clean Install of Genuine Windows 7 Professional, Licence Key on Base plus Office 2007 Installed. For £120.

Now running antiX-16 frugally from an external usb.

Thanks all. Of course it was second hand, but a bargain nonetheless, I think.

Win7 will stay on it even if I will never use it - the missus might.
I'll run antiX from a ssd when I get the time to play with it more.

^ I kept win8->10 on this one, thing is; I have to change the uefi shit in the BIOS to boot into win or 'buntu.

Nice, but, what happens if you unplug? Good thing, replacement batteries are easy to find

what is that thing plugged in on the left there? (not the USB-HDD) is that some modded power supply?

The battery do work...but I guess that it will not be for long though. Have not tested it yet, but will do so one of these days. Installed "Space Oddity" on it, but have to do a few configs and add some bloat to it before I check the battery.

My intention is to keep this one as my new staionary machine, connected to a bigger screen, stereo and cabled internet. Thanks to the dock it makes it fairly easy to move around if necessary, will probably have to bring the cord with me if it is going to be used for some time.

The machine is quite old but it looks new. No scratches, no marks, everything seems to work as it should. Replaced the hd with a ssd that I had laying around, so smooth sailing from now on. :)

Edit: wux, sorry I did not see your post until now, it is a docking station. But I guess you understood that since it is mentioned above here.
